Watching the run chase this morning and the Bangla's are having a go for it, chasing 286 to win on a turning pitch they're 80-1 at the moment and it's a fascinating battle of wits as they've seen off the spinners and England now trying pace which is the reverse of how it's usually played. This could be a close finish...
Batty's two wickets have swung it England's way, Bangla's need a big innings from one of these two...
80 runs needed and 5 wickets left, the two in doing an excellent job.......tense. They have never got a draw with us in the past, let alone a win. Bangladesh's improvement, a funky pitch and conditions the English aren't used to makes for a good contest.
They've now got the momentum and confidence rising to take this all the way. England desperately need a breakthrough wicket...
And another ... 238-8 Who would've thought a test match between Bangladesh and England could be so compelling?
Cook chucks in the towel for today, so the Bangla's have us on the run needing 33 to win and Cook doesn't trust his spinners to get the two wickets. The Bangla No.9 certainly wasn't afraid to swing the bat and they've still got a chance. An excellent advert for test cricket...
Hope BD win it for the sake of their Test future. They have played magnificently. Good experience and practice for England ahead of India.
Sorry I'm missing this as...... Oh hang on, the waiter has just brought me my club sandwich and another beer.
Really impressed with the way Bangladesh have dug in, no one gave them a prayer at the start of their innings. Really could go either way.
Anyone getting up to watch it from about 4.30am! love to but need my sleep, should be all over time I get up.
Bangladesh v England: Ben Stokes inspires 22-run win 23 minutes ago From the sectionCricket Sharethis page please log in to view this image England needed 3.3 overs on the final morning to secure victory First Test, Chittagong (day five) England 293 & 240: Stokes 85, Shakib 5-85 Bangladesh 248 & 263: Sabbir 64*, Batty 3-65 England won by 22 runs Scorecard England rescued an unlikely 22-run victory on the final morning of an intriguing first Test in Chittagong. Bangladesh began the day needing 33 to beat England for the first time in a Test match, with two wickets standing. They calmly added 10 runs before Taijul Islam was given out lbw after a review. In the same over, Ben Stokes removed last man Shafiul Islam, who was given out lbw and failed to overturn it on review as Bangladesh were dismissed for 263, with Sabbir Rahman unbeaten on 64. Bangladesh had won only seven of their previous 93 Tests and had beaten only Zimbabwe and an under-strength West Indies
It's a shame yesterday's session finished without conclusion as the Banglas were making a go of it, the break in play always favoured England. Let's hope the remaining matches are as competitive...
