Sky sports saying we have agreed fee with celtic. Think he is a right back but other than that I know **** all about him.
SUNDERLAND have agreed a fee with Celtic for Welsh international full-back Adam Matthews. The 23-year-old has been given permission to speak with the Black Cats to discuss a move to Wearside which is believed to be around the £1.5m mark. Matthews joined Celtic four years ago after leaving Cardiff City and has a wealth of experience having clinched four Scottish Premier League titles and taken on the likes of Lionel Messi in the Champions League. Hopefully a bloody good, eager-to-please, desperate-to-impress and hungry kid! Coz I never heard of the lad!
Well that's a much better price for a potentially decent young full back than the £8 million that Leeds were wanting for Byram! With a bit of luck he'll be good enough to slot in down the right like PVA did on the left last year.
Ive heard hes a very pacy attacking right back. With PVA bombing up and down the left, it sounds like were gona have alot of much needed pace in the team next year.
Was in the Celtic team that beat Barca in the CL. Would give Usain Bolt a 10 yard start and beat him. A snip at £2 mil if reports are true.
leftfield, but like it. all the hallmarks of a pulsating right-back and at the right age. just need that ball playing centre half in and that's the defence sorted. attacking midfielder and striker or 2 in, shift the deadweights n jobs a good un.
No mate, he's a right back Always a bit of a risk signing players from Scotland but at that price you can't really go wrong. Also Robertson at Hull came from Scotland and had a decent season last year so no reason this lad can't do the same.
It is being widely reported that Sunderland have had a bid of around £1.5m for Celtic's Adam Matthews accepted by the Scottish champions. Celtic seemingly captured his replacement yesterday after they signed Saidy Janko from Manchester United, which appears to have freed up Lee Congerton and Dick Advocaat to move for Matthews. The 23-year-old is primarily a right back but can also play on the right side of midfield - and has filled in at left back on occasion - joined Celtic in 2011 from Cardiff City, beating the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United to his signature. He has since gone on to make 148 appearances for the Parkhead side but may well have played his last game for the club, with it being reported that Sunderland have a deal in placeand are waiting to agree personal terms for the Welsh international. An attacking right back with plenty of pace, Matthews has 12 international caps for Wales and has played 21 times in the Champions League for Celtic, including starting in a famous victory over Barcelona in the 2012-13 season. Advocaat had been looking for a right back to compete with Billy Jones and it seemed as if it was between Arsenal's Carl Jenkinson or Sam Byram of Leeds United but it now looks as if the move for Matthews will end our interest in the pair.
He played v Inter when I went up there and in the first half he was absolutely superb, they opened Inter up time and again down the right side him and Armstrong. He faded after the break and was subbed but on the first half performance, I'll be delighted to see him here. He was quick, and he was constantly overlapping. Downside, 2 Inter goals also came down that side.
From the Celtic lads. I asked their opinion. "Smashing player, not flashy but can run all day and does a good mazy now and again. Model Pro, sad to see him leave." Sounds promising.
Celtic have signed 2 RB's the one from United and Boyata can play there, I'd suggest maybe this deal is almost done.
