Transfer Rumours Adeus Townsend - Sporting Lisbon

Shame really, would have loved to see him stay but Sporting are in the CL and are obviously willing to pay the stupid £8m release clause. I wish him all the best, but I would have thought that Benitez would have wanted him to stay? To me, it could suggest Benitez isnt signing and the delay is due to us keeping him quiet whilst we find a replacement?

 

Actually gutted if this is true though!

I think this could be the start, surely Benitez would want to keep him, Townsend made all the right noises so did his dad, perhaps Andros knows Benitez is gone and because of that, he is getting out quick to avoid the storm that is going to quickly follow. Don't blame him, but dont think it bodes well.

 

How comes the shirt he's wearing on the plane is black but in the airport it is white?

Don't see that it has anything to do with the Rafa situation. There would have to be serious man love between them before you could expect to turn down Chamions League in favour of Championship.

He isnt going to play in the championship next season, thats a fact. His Mrs is an irish model and probably has some swing in the .convo, surely she see's keen on a move to portugal, plus if he does any good, he will attract more interest and probably make a profit for lisbon, which they are always keen on.

I think the rumour is true, but i must admit the change of shirts seems strange, Perhaps he spilt something or its hot? I dunno i can't justify it or give any reason, but anything could have happened, we just dont know. The pictures could have been from months ago, you cant even tell what airport it is!

However im going on the assumption it's true and im not going to cling on to the hope that he is staying. Unfortunatley England dont post training pics, if they did and he was there we would be able to tell that the rumours are false.

 

Great move for him if true. Just paper/social media chit chat at present though. The Mag is a ****ty publication.

 

I'm struggling with his beard being different lengths also....

If you look at the blokes twitter page, where the rumour has surfaced, you can clearly see that he is on a wind up!

 

The sports paper article is the worry for me..

It's been rubbished in Portugal. Townsend is not going there.

 

Thought it was the other way around, i.e. twitter lad see's story and rips the piss?

I know it looks like a bit Townsend, but it obviously is not. Hairline is different and there is more of it. His look is not unique you know, especially in Portugal and Spain. There are people I know here in Turkey that look a bit like him.. Townsend for Galatasary is coming next..
