Short dropped his arse at being quoted 10m. Another example of our owner lacking the balls to push the boat out on quality. As we can see it pays for itself. please log in to view this image For the record, we offered 2.5m and Diakite ****ing delusional we are
Ridiculous this though, loved Marcos but he's a £10 million absolute maximum player. If he moved within Italy that fee is halved, make no mistake.
Aye but that was just the quote, we would have brought them down through negotiation. I don't doubt that for a second.
I loved the lad he was solid, good getting on the ball, bought the shirt. I hope it goes well for him, sadly looks like an expensive bench warmer.
Good luck to him. Always liked him and gutted we never signed him permanently. He genuinely liked it here as well, always tweeting about SAFC etc. He's not a £20m+ player, mind you!
Never heard anything official from either club regarding this and all journalist stuff where we were concerned. Loads of speculation but nothing official. At the time we were looking at him, he was max a £6m player - he'd now be a £10-12m player with the money that's come into the Premier League. Hindsight is a wonderful thing - we don't even know that they wanted to sell (apparently, according to reports, they didn't) or that he wanted to join permanently. If someone told us, when he returned to his parent club, CHelsea would pay £25m for him in a couple of seasons, we'd have pushed the boat out to sign him for £10m. I'm not Short's biggest fan, but why do we accept all of the paper talk which suits our argument and none of the stuff that we don;t want to hear?
