Team principal: Franz Tost Technical director: Jody Egginton Drivers: Pierre Gasly 10 and Yuki Tsunoda 22. Look out for the best white wheel rims ever seen??! We shall see on Monday! For the last couple of seasons, there has been more and more a feeling that Alpha Tauri have been stepping out of the shadow of big sister Red Bull. The branding, the name, the livery have all been a stepping out phase for this team, and they’ve got themselves a cracking young driver in Pierre Gasly as well as the pocket rocket Yuki Tsunoda, for whom consistency will be the key. They will continue with Honda power hence the backing for Yuki, and are essentially a works team heading into a new set of regulations, making them a possible dark horse. A new set of regulations offers a watershed opportunity for this team, if they can take it. Red Bull were deep into battle with Mercedes into the final embers of 2021- if this hinders the big team then the right design approach from Alpha Tauri could see them finally emerge as a threat to the bigger guns around them. This is a team I shall keep a close eye on in pre season- I just hope there are no “clever” budget cap games played by Red Bull for their advantage and to the detriment of Alpha. Let’s see how they get on!
No white rims!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Haha. Obviously digital images hiding some details but that looks a compact and tidy car that, don’t you think? The side view reminded me of 2007/8 cars!!
I can't believe that the rims are black!!!! I am surprised Pirelli didn't mandate a silver rim detail just to emphasise that they are now using 18" rims. Floor looks way too simplistic, I guess they have just used a ruler on the renders to eliminate any details. Does the exhaust have orange bits on it? Not much in the way of rear views to see the diffuser etc.
is it me or does the leading edge of their front wing actually look like they want lift not down force LOL Its basically a basic rendering with a very boring livery? it sort of hints a little at simialr aston type side pods yet the look impossibly narrow. wellll.... what can you expect from a baby red bull. their senior team pull a **** unveil too.
I hope someday somebody serious buys minardi and brings the energy into the team and ambition. Looks a very boring car and livery along with a dead end driver line up
Finally the real car emerges- some really nice details too. It makes me concerned that Red Bull may be sat on a beast but I’m hoping Alpha have really started to be independent.
Intriguingly it looks like they’ve gone push rod rear and pull rod front suspensions, which as customers of Red Bull for listed parts matches RBR and McLaren philosophies. EDIT- Sorry it’s apparantly push rod for both - only the rear comes from RBR.
I so wanted to see the white wheels continue... That's a very interesting detail on the floor. Not seen that sort of thing on any of the others but maybe that's due to angle of photo?
its a lovely shot to see the ways the air is headed for that rear diffuser. Top of the side pods and down and then up over the rear diffuser to the under ring elements. round and under the side pods and some pick up the the upper and some down and out at the sides. And you can see the big front of this under tray and the restriction down then it faring up again at the exit and this side opening part is on a few cars in different ways. it is interesting to see what i can only call two sharp points (as i thought it had to be 25mm min) where this slit is that are absolute tyre shedders. finally the logo at the bottom, under that theres this hint of grey and they look like triangles pointing down. what is going on there on the under side?
I I like to think that the gap in the floor behind the intake is for when they go rally crossing, and it's where the grass clippings get spat out.
Shakedown for Alpha Tauri earlier today I believe - first glimpse of the real car and not renders. Looks at face value like less going on compared to others but I know Gasly said his engineers thought this was gonna be their best ever car, so let’s reserve judgment for the track!
