Dunno, but when Diane Abbott said 'white people like playing divide and rule' and that Finnish nurses aren't familiar with black people and shouldn't work in the NHS, she didn't face any repercussions for her racist remarks and she holds public office. The few times she's been questioned on it, she provided a non-apology and deflected the issue as 'ad hominem attacks against her character'.
You've lost me. He started talking about gays - that's what this whole problem is about. I mentioned the race bit to show that a simple apology is not enough. If he had said, I don't like gay people, there would be little to talk about. The point I was making was that if a non-black person said something that was not just a little racist, but actually said in a tweet that black people should burn and die, I cannot possibly imagine that an apology would suffice. That is exactly what he has done. He didn't say he was uncomfortable, or it was something he didn't like, he actually used #burn and #die in a tweet complaining about too many gays. In my eyes, that is on another level entirely.
Gaylord The Ultimate insult...in which nothing can outmatch. In using Gaylord you are saying somebody is essentially the Ruler of all Gays. A Gaylord is a about 100x10^999 times more insulting than all of those words combined. Unlike many other definitions claim, Gaylord cannot be beaten by "**** you" or any other insult. Gaylord is a classic insult used many centuries ago, but recently has become lost in time...fortunatly it is slowely being brought back into everyday use... ... by Happy Tiger
Are you being deliberately obtuse? I said non-black, because I black person saying black people should burn and die, is not only racist, but probably also clinically insane. If a person who does not have a given characteristic, says that people who do have that given characteristic should burn and die, in my opinion an apology is not enough. Have I written that neutrally enough for you now?
And I'm not defending Gray for his comments. I still don't know why his comments which he's apologised for warrant a punishment four years after he made them. From what I've seen on Twitter, there are a lot of tweets made by Black Lives Matter activists saying all white cops should die and there are even transgender people saying 'cis scum die'. Do people only get outraged when they make derogatory comments towards minorities?
Is your information up to date? I was certain Cockwomble had been proclaimed the ultimate insult for 2016.
Urban dictionary quote - but perhaps you overlooked this paragraph: "Unlike many other definitions claim, Gaylord cannot be beaten by "**** you" or any other insult."
On a slightly related note, I've noticed on this forum (and in general, actually) to take the piss out of the French, Germans, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Americans, Canadians and Australians is seen as acceptable but to take the piss out of Eastern Europeans, black people, Jews, Arabs and Asians is unacceptable. Is there some sort of West-East, North-South racial bigotry line somewhere?
