Just out of interest, £20000 in pennies would weigh about 50 kg; and any payment by pennies exceeding 20 p is not legal tender. The recipient can refuse the payment.

What on earth has happened to the justice system when calling someone names the internet gets a fine like that, and everyday in the news is a story about killers, and violent asault getting much less punishment.

True but any payment in £1 coins is legal tender

In fact you can pay as follows

What coins can you pay with:

    • 1p - for any amount not exceeding 20p
    • 2p - for any amount not exceeding 20p
    • 5p - for any amount not exceeding £5
    • 10p - for any amount not exceeding £5
    • 20p - for any amount not exceeding £10
    • 50p - for any amount not exceeding £10
    • £1 - for any amount
    • £2 - for any amount

But they are combined so 20p (mixture of 2p & 1p), £5 (mixture of 5p & 10p), £10 (mixture of 20p & 50p) so the most you can legally pay in coins below £1 is £15.20

I was gonna ask that, can't find anything at all about it anywhere. It wouild be good to see what type of statement could cost you 20k.

Even if its a similar "this is the type of thing he might have said <wink>" type post

I don't know what he said, as I'm not one of his 34 Facebook friends.

The (now former) chairman of the Blackpool Supporters Trust had to pay £10k on top of his £12k legal bill

A fan of trappist beer could use £5 notes. Using origami, they could fold the notes into the letters T, R, A, P, I and S, and then liberally scatter them across his garden.

    G
    good
It's annoying where it will go to, but there but for the grace of lawyers and all that
Doesn't take much from fans to stand up for an opinionated outspoken OAP football fan ( becoming one of those is my ambition in life)
