I'm not sure why you are equating the stat with "not trying". They are professional footballers with careers & short term contracts to protect. makes no sense to say that they don't try.
For the stat to have real meaning we'd need to know at what point his teams hit 40 pts and how many games are played after this. Do some more digging Syd
08/09: Won 1 game after hitting 40 (out of 2 games) 09/10: Won 1 game after hitting 40 (out of 6 games) 10/11: Won 0 games after hitting 40 (out of 4 games) 11/12: Won 0 games after hitting 40 (out of 6 games) 12/13: Won 0 games after hitting 40 (out of 3 games) 13/14: Won 0 games after hitting 40 (out of 3 games) 14/15: Won 1 game after hitting 40 (out of 4 games) 15/16: Won 0 games after hitting 40 (out of 5 games) So clearly the stat about 1 win in total was wrong, must have been misunderstood as he's never won more than 1 game after hitting 40. In fact last year WBA had 0 wins in their last 9 after winning 3 of 4 (against Everton, United, and Palace and drawing with eventual champions Leicester).. huge drop off in results but I suppose saying they weren't trying is too extreme.
Nice one. Good stats them. This season will be tester because WBA hit 40 pts with 12 games to go. Or maybe Pulis has it written in his contracts that he only works until his team hits 40pts
This song I always liked, and reminded me of Hull Fair, as it was playing loudly when I was enjoying the Waltzers in my miss spent youth. Just read a bit about her life, quite sad really, never enjoyed the comfortable life she should have had.
Good digging syd. Ye it's not trying but it's giving less than 100% isn't it. Which is all you need do to get beat. Didn't Soton do it a few times too when they were clear of relegation
