Don't shoot the messenger here, but a friend of mine over here who is a big Boro fan and is quite well connected with someone at the club told me on Friday .....don't be surprised if Boro put an official bid in for Catts in the week or two. Its probably crap, but this guy is not prone to BS and I've had it on good authority he is very good friends with a director in the chemical wasteland that is Middlesbrough.
I suggested that he could go to Boro' a few weeks ago. Wouldn't surprise me in the least. If they do bid I reckon he'll go. If he does go to them I hope he doesn't get any stick from our lot. He's been a good servant to the club.
if they bid then we better be asking the right money. Personally I'd like to see Cattermole finish his career here. Has improved so much as a footballer and has been pretty ,much imperative to us over recent seasons. If he goes he'll go certainly with my blessing.
I think Cattermole will leave and we'll probably see him scratching around near the bottom of the Premier league with struggling teams, for the rest of his career. Hopefully this is a sign that we are moving on and progressing. I think 5 million would be a fair price.
it's a tricky one, I think we all would agree that we hope after hope that this season we don't have to rely on players like Catts to help save us from the drop which he has done fantastically. But if his wages can be freed up to bring in better to avoid the end of season panic then it's probably for the best.
I have been one of his biggest critics in the past, but have to admit that he has improved a heck of a lot in the last couple of seasons. What he lacks in skill he more than makes up for with his leadership, fight and determination. Sam was right to praise Catts as the driving force behind the team. Credit where credits due. I think without him motivating the players, be it in the dressing room or out on the pitch, we may well have gone down, so I would love to see him stay.
Agree with this. If he goes to make way for an improvement so be it. It`s the way it has to be. £5-6m seems about right. Did we turn down £6m for him? If it does happen it could be interesting to see what our new CEO makes of it. With a bit of luck we may have our very own Levy.
They paid 9m for Rhodes. Unproven at pl. why would Cattermole be worth less when he's massively experienced and in his prime? 10m minimum and I'd be disappointed if we accepted any less. She's no ambition in the club to sell him fir £5m. Remember work out his value relatively rather than looking at the £5m everyone puts on his head. He is worth 10m in today's game.
I'm a big Catts fan & would rather him stay than go. If he does though, sting the smoggy ****s for every penny.
I'd let him go home for 5. He's decent but we need far better and he's on a fair whack. That money would be better spent on someone else for me.
The way the market is now he's easily a 10m player. English, hundreds of pl games and still only about 27? Put it this way for a player matching that description we would have to pay £10 we've payed more for worse cough rodwell cough
Now a more experienced player with his a more stable mindset to go with his massive onfield leadership qualities. These changes are reflected on the field as referees are more tolerant of his combatative playing style - his constant encouragement, support & criticism of teammates is brilliant in my view
Big fan of Catts and I want him to stay, he's vastly improved, has sorted out his indiscipline on the pitch and if we do sell them 5million is too cheap, we don't want to be selling players to clubs who could be relegation rivals, and I hate myself for including us in the R word conversation cause I hope we aren't involved in it next season.
We need to sell to buy, so yes he can go and has been huge for us. I hope we get Ayew for a start then watch the Euros there will be a few exellent players there.
