Just checked into a hotel in San Francisco, looked up at TV to see Chuba Akpom getting the MOM award! The arse were playing MLS (?), won 2-1, presumably Chubby scored a goal or 2.
Isaac Hayden insists the main difference between the Hull City side who were promoted last season and the current Newcastle United squad is that the Magpies “pass the ball a lot better”. I see Hayden we don't pass the ball as well as Newcastle. They must have improved from last season then. The 21-year-old spent the 2015/16 campaign on loan at The KC Stadium and helped the Tigers back to the top flight via the play-offs. But he believes Rafa Benitez is assembling a superior second-tier squad at St James’ Park than to Hull’s last season, and that Newcastle’s quality on the ball will help them achieve promotion this term. “The main difference between this team and Hull City last year is that we at Newcastle pass the ball a lot better than we did at Hull,” the United summer signing from Arsenal explained. “I think if we get the ball down and if we want to play football – one or two touches – and maybe on a few occasions against Southend we played too many touches, yet overall we played it around nicely and got a few passes and moved on from there. “If we play like we have been during pre-season and take it on a notch in terms of moving it a bit quicker in some certain areas then I don’t think we’ll have any problems as there are some quality players here.” During the Magpies’ 2-0 pre-season friendly win at Southend United on Tuesday night,Hayden looked to have developed a positive relationship in central-midfield with Jonjo Shelvey. But the versatile midfielder admits it will take him a little time to get used to working with his team-mates given that he has only played with Rolando Aarons previously of the current United squad. “It’s quite comfortable in there but again it’s still early days for me and I’m still getting used to my team-mates,” Hayden added. “I’ve only really played with Rolando before at England level so I’m still getting used to my team-mates but it’s been good so far and I’m enjoying it. “I’m learning every training session, the manager’s been fantastic for me personally and obviously for the team. “I’m just trying to learn as much as I can, integrate further with the team and work towards getting wins which we need. “For me it’s about progressing as a team and moving forward, which I hope we will do.” http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...isaac-hayden-reveals-big-difference-11672437?
Chuba could not miss even by his woeful standards of last season. I suspect he will get loaned out again on deadline day. Chuba should thank the lad who set up his chance and served it up to him on a plate,.
Nob Hill still very nobby, hills are still very hilly, but yes its a fine place. I didn't realise that a $2 bus ticket lasts all day, I've spent a very pleasant day bus-hopping all over the place.
