When we reverted to a 4-4-2 in the Chelsea game it lead to two goals and could have even been more before halftime.. Playing three at the back against teams with pace (Ashley Young) is suicidal IMO.
I'm not a big fan of the 3-5-2 with the current personnel but I don't get this. Everyone says it leaves us open on the wings but when has that ever happened? I don't ever remember a game where we've just been cut open down the wings due to lack of cover in the last couple of years. It's more the other end that seems to be a problem. Bruce said after that Chelsea game he changed to a back four to allow us to press higher up the pitch.
Spot on. If it's a genuine 3-5-2 then there are gaps to exploit on the wings like we saw in the championship but ever since we've been in the premier league it's been 5 defenders. Like you say the big problem with this formation is lack of width and numbers in the attacking third rather than defensive. It's why we always go sideways and backwards taking ages to get up the pitch because beyond the two forwards there's no one else in a forward position.
I don't remember that? Hazard scored from in front of us and Costa scored on the break down the middle.
WTF Bruce sees in Huddlestone has me mystified. All I see in him is a lazy ****er that cost us points and our spot in the prem
There's another thing. Rosie was one of our best defenders the season before and how many times did he start for us this season ......twice!!!!
