    Interesting.

"Silva’s departure along with all his coaching staff has brought an opportunity to totally overhaul football operations and move further away from the traditional English model of a manager being in charge of all facets at a club."

That was obviously written by Ehab. Cringey how it's presented as an objectively good thing.

We've needed someone other than Ehab to actually run the club for years. Frankly it's embarrassing that as a Premier League club we've had just this one daft rich kid running things while every other club has a proper board, Chief Exec etc and people who know what they're doing. That said, a DoF doesn't sound like that. It sounds like another of these ill-fated schemes where someone in a tie gets to pick the players and then it's the manager's fault that they're **** at football.

Hopefully this means less of Ehab getting involved and messing around

It really depends on who it is, hopefully someone who is not Ehab's puppet.

Either way, won't be long before they fall out with Ehab, leave and then Ehab decides we don't need a DoF after all cos he knows best. We've seen it all before.

More than likely, though I did hear he has increasing responsibility with the generator business with his father not being great, so needs to spend less time on City.

That was my first thought. Wasn't he nailed on for the Wigan job? Then suddenly go very silent after Silva did one?

I'd be very happy with McClaren as DoF.

He knows the city, I assume he knows the Allams, has shed loads of experience in football (with contacts too) and, can speak foreign languages too.

Someone like him as DoF could be a sign that the owners are ready toi build a framework for the future, as opposed to the hand to mouth 'pragmatism' (being kind there) of the last couple of seasons.

I did mention the other day that McClaren had said he was close to a director of football job, I assumed it would have been Boro.

McLaren was definitely at the Sunderland game but I thought he'd ruled out an offer of Director of Football elsewhere recently on the basis that he had a potential (preferred) role as manager lined up.
