Just got back from the match and I can't believe what I've just seen, the three new boys seem to give the whole team a lift, we played with skill, attacked with pace, and played the ball on the floor. Lawrence scored both our goals but it was a good all round display and easily matched Reading the top 3 side. If we can play like this for the rest of the season we will be ok.
Seems to me that Skuse is one of the reasons we're crap in midfield. I do not want him walking straight back into the team when fit!
Diagouraga was the only disappointment for me, he was slow and never up to the pace of the game, maybe it's a question of fitness? The fans were right behind the team even after we conceded because of the effort the boys were putting in, it's months since I saw a performance like this.
I would even hazard to say that had we ended up losing today the team still would have been applauded off.
Skuse is one of the reasons we play such crap football. When we haven't got the ball he's brave and determined to win it back. As soon as we get it I've never know a midfielder to not want the ball so much, he should be the player which links the defence to the midfield and although he's the defensive midfielder also have the courage to drive the team forwards but he doesn't he shies away from the ball which as a CM simply isn't good enough. Although I have to say this may also be a reflection of the manager and the reason we played so well yesterday is because he hasn't has the chance to beat it out of the 2 new midfielders who played yesterday!! I have to say when I heard we were getting Huws I was a little surprised by the negativity as I'd thought he was a highly rated player, although I did hope that he'd come into to play a slightly deeper role because I'd hate it to be to the detriment of Bishop and Dozzells development. Next season a midfield 3 of Hyam, Huws and Bishop would be a good balanced one
I never want a player to get injured but it might be the best thing to happen to us if Skuse was out for 2 or 3 weeks just so we can actually get a look at what we could be like without him in the team.
