Also Michael Carrick and Fabian Delph? Interesting choices. One has barely played and the other has been part of a side tottering on the brink all season. I rate Carrick (I know many don't) but it does seem a bit like the old boys club. Delph - I just can't see what the fuss is. I suppose a lack of options is the problem, with Colback or Noble, then probably Huddlestone or Cattermole next in line. Not exactly a tremendous set of options.

Walcott - has he been playing regular?

Stunned Adam Johnson hasn't made it...

England are ****. Doesn't matter who we select, we are still second rate.

The fact that Jones and Smalling get anywhere near the squad just goes to show the lack of English talent at centre back. Williamson for England anybody? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Good shout! He can go off on international duty and miss the Toon matches. <ok>

He might also get injured whilst on international duty which means he might miss a few games for the Toon and we get compensated. Win-win in my books

Of course at that point our first choice CB's will be Anita and Peter Beardsley/Tea Lady.

<laugh> that would still be an improvement, especially if the tea lady is allowed to use her trolley to stick in front of the goal. And Anita could sit on Beardsley's shoulders to make one full sized player.

But if we are removing both Jones and Smalling, and only throwing in Willo, does that mean we can add a 4th left back in Bertrand too? I feel this would be beneficial.

Fact is, an top class international side has world class players comfortable with ball at feet. Carrick is the only player good enough to do that. Lallana and Henderson are below international standard, Raheem Sterling is no different from any young quick winger we've hyperboled beyond proportion in the past, the centre back pairing are mid-table premier league at best, our CMs (as highlighted above) are abysmal in comparison with everyone else (Delph basically runs around fouling. He's a **** Cattermole) and the less said about the secret Ameobi (Danny Welbeck) the better. Kane is probably one of the few players another nation might look at and actually have to lose two moments sleep about.

A bunch of average bums. Routledge and Dyer deserved a call-up well ahead of ****ing Andros Townsend, Walcott and Danny Welbeck. Oh and Shelvey > Delph + Colback.

Looks like Woy has taken your excellent advice and drafted in Bertrand for the Italy game. <laugh>
