Normally don't take too much interest in the one day matches but seeing that we are winning, I'm keen as! For those interested, Aussies just won the first one dayer. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cr...ia-claim-blood-ODI-series-59-run-victory.html
Nice win, Aussie. England seemed to have it under control, but Australia bowled well later on. England will still win the series though.
Did anyone see the Stokes dismissal yesterday - given out for obstructing the field. Seemed to be a correct decision to me, but Morgan was quite confrontational about it after the game, saying that he would have withdrawn the appeal in the same circumstances.
To it looked a fair decision, I don't see how he can say he was protecting himself when his arm was nowhere near his body. All the incident has done is detract from the fact that for the second match running we fell apart in the middle of the innings.
All jokes aside, I thought the decision to give the batsman out was correct for both that instance and for the game. If it was not given out, it could set a very dangerous circumstance for players who may consider unsportsmanlike advantages.
I thought it out when watching it on slo-mo, but in real time I thought he was defending himself (which is probably why Morgan was so irate).
It was certainly excellent reactions, and I get your point about real time v slo-mo - just makes the umpires' call more impressive. Looks like something that he did without thinking, sadly.
England would have still lost so no need to make it any bigger a deal, if I was an Aussie I'd have appealed
There is another side to that which is now we could see a spate of bowlers throwing balls at batsmen in an effort to get them to do the same thing. Just as unsportsmanlike. Bit of six and two threes really. The game isn't played in slow mo. (Although non cricket fans would say the whole game is slow mo. lol) In real time is was debateable. Being it was debatable, what ever happened to giving the benefit of the doubt to the batsman? I'm not saying it was or wasn't out but the whole thing is just sad for the game.
