Saints have published their Europa squad list: http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2016/clubs/club=52923/index.html Interesting Forster is named, but not Gardos.
In this case, Forster cannot fill it. The home-grown quota is split into two parts, eight total of which a maximum of four can be "association-trained", and another four "club-trained"; even without Forster, the "association-trained" spots are accounted for. The bigger issue from a home-grown standpoint is that we have to leave spots owing to our lack of club-trained over-21s, of which you are required to have four. Owing to the sales in recent years, all of our remaining club-trained squad members are below that age and consequently exempt from being registered, with the exception of Isgrove...thus, our maximum squad size is 22 players (unless we reacquire a former home-grown Saint; is Bale doing anything?). Mostly, he's probably on there because there's nothing lost by doing so; we only have 20 players registered as it stands, and a maximum of one more player can be added after the submission deadline, which was Friday...thus, there's more than enough room in the squad for Messi when he completes the paperwork tomorrow. And as (I'm almost certain) squad lists can change wholesale between rounds, up to the end of the transfer window, he can be removed the circumstance requires, but likely won't be.
Could this be because you name your squad from the commencement of the tournament until Christmas, after which point you can make changes until the end of the tournament? If so, with Gardos is not expected back until February and Forester months sooner - this seems logical.
I don't think Forster is due back "months" sooner Romsey. I'm not expecting him back this side of Xmas and maybe not at all this season.
Hopefully get ticket for Arnhem away today.....saying that though there were NO tickets at stadium yesterday when they went on sell, you either pick them up Friday or get them posted.
No idea...I am guaranteed a ticket today with 10 aways, would think there will only be a few hundred left for tomorrow. Got a mate going down there at about 10ish tonight to queue up!!!! It's going to be a scramble to get those last few.
I don't know, but the expectation for his return is supposed to be well after Xmas, if at all. Maybe there has been some incredible recovery or treatment. Maybe it wasn't as bad as first thought? Maybe they just want to make him feel wanted
Okay - I don't know why - but thought he was back this side of Xmas - hence the logic behind my comment (or lack of )...
A couple of weeks ago the media was implying Forster but not be back this season, a bit like JRod. Bearing in mind the size of the fella his return to fitness will have to be very carefully managed
