Sorry, if you see the rest of my posts in this article you'll see I've spoken complete nonsense throughout. This is just another example you've highlighted.
Hi Paul, I was indeed talking to you backstage at the Manchester show, but I wasn't in the Odd's, I'm just an old mate of Stu's(I've sent you a private message)
John aldertons old man had a shop down hessle road and during winter if there was a doubt re the game being on he put a sign saying whether the game was on I caught the bus once with Pauline Collins
Never knew one of them was from Hull. In the early1950s/1960s they were always guests on variety shows of the sort your parents liked and, in the days of 1 television in the house and 2 Channels you had no choice but to watch Unless you wanted to retreat to a freezing cold bedroom in those pre central heating days.
seem to remember my father back then telling us she was born down lorraine street Might be wrong i dont know
Surprised no one has mentioned Alan Hardaker secretary to the football league for many years. One of the most powerful men in football of his time.
Alan Plater wasn't from Hull, he just lived here, Avenues, then Cottingham. John Godber is a Wessie. Watch one of his plays, they are all Wessie oriented, Dickie Henderson was from Hull. Ebeneezor Cobb Morley. He was from Hull. That bloke who's a legend for Barcelona, best ever manager or something, he's from Hull. The bloke who organises the Leeds Fesitval, he's from Hull. Brian Rix. The Bee Lady ( Jean Bishop) Lord Terrance Geraghty of Orchard Park.
The guy who was the presenter on the Basil Brush show, a Hull City supporter too. Can't remember his name but I think he lived on OPE.
I think with John Alderton being born in Lincolnshire was a bit of an accident and a symptom of being a war time baby. I am fairly sure when I was kid I heard a story that his mother Ivy was evacuated to Lincolnshire. For most people this would not be a problem but John was keen cricketer and in those days he would have been ineligible to play for the mighty Yorkshire. .
Didn't know that OLM he and her are my half cousins I guess they don't know me but I remember meeting their dad, a great piano player and band leader.
