I did exactly that after a sliding tackle playing football. Not only did the thumb break, but i turned my ankle and damaged a ligament there. Won the ball though!
I'm a mixture of dissapointed and relieved. It's utterly dissapointing after all our efforts last season to get knocked out so soon and in such a lacklustre way. But it's clear that Ron has a lot of work to do to get us back up to speed again. Sneaking through despite another poor performance from team and manager would have led to lot's more games that we are clearly not ready for. We need to get back to basics with the team, and training sessions with Ron is probably the best way to do that, something that is difficult when you are playing and travelling so often with Europe. It will help when we get some of our players back and with whoever we bring in to the club in the final days. Ideally for me...VVD, Praet and make the most of that loan market! But for me we need Ron to step up now. He's made some mistakes in formation and player selection for me. There's been little balance to the team. Either playing far too many attacking players or defensive players with little link in the middle. It's going to be difficult with out the calm and composed links we had in the team with Morgan and Toby. But hopefully VVD will help with that.
This may sound like clutching at straws, but is there not something in the theory that because Ron hasn't been out on the training pitch with the squad, he has missed some of the nuances that tell him who is on form and who isn't? He definitely hasn't got his best XI available yet, I know, but does he actually know who is the best of the rest? I'm not saying this accounts for all of our loss of form, but it may be a contributing factor.
I bet the ankle damaged hurt far more then the thumb. I have been in a cast/splint for 4 weeks now and need to be for another 4 and yet to have much pain at all.
Yes, so do I. Oh wait, you were being ironic At the moment I'm definitely a glass half empty and I can't see a win coming. Hopefully I'll be half full after Sunday.
It would have been a very hard group.[/QUOTE] Seeing the group draw just makes it worse, still can't believe we're out
Thats really depressing. None of them are walk over clubs, but we finished 7th in the BPL for ****s sake, we should be easy favourites to win that and move one to the knock out round. Well i guess Ron knows what his task is for this season, avoid relegation.get us back into Europe by any means necessary!
Napoli are far better then us. Club Brugge have far more experience then us in Europe. Legia Warsaw aren't bad either.
No think we were down as 4th seeds anyway, not that it matters, it's still too soon to be seeing this!
Like i said, i wouldn't have expected us to walk that group with the same ease that that pompey walked league 2 last season (sniggers) but i think we would've been favourites to make it out and move on to the KO stages based on our performances last season. At our best we can be unplayable even for the top 4 in england, its just a shame we struggle to re-emulate our successful spells at other times.
