I wonder why? http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-signing-of-bristol-city8217s-ryan-fredericks Could there be more here than meets the eye?
I'm wondering a possible Smith connection bearing in mind what Cotts says here.. “There is one signing – a striker – that would be good for us, but whether that one materialises, we’ll see. I don’t want to get people’s hopes up. " http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/loan-market-likely-cotterill-2656353.aspx
Personal reasons could be family that requires him to spend a lot of time in the London area. In all of this City or Fulham have only given the press the bit they need, Cotterill didn't sound to despondent about it so perhaps he understood. Anyway I didn't rate him much on what I saw, but I normally like to give players a longer chance before judgment, but in this case I won't get that opportunity so on what I saw, I'm not bothered by it.
I'm still not thrilled by the prospect of Smith. We resorted to L1 style balls into the box looking for Flint on Saturday. It'll be the same if Smith comes back and it will seem like desperation compared to Gayle or Gray.
It wouldn't surprise me. We have been after Smith for a while - and Red Robin posted a rumour linking us with McCormack (not convinced tbh).
With the pace we have through the side and the likes of Freeman, Kodija, and Bryan looking to get beyond the opposition defence we have lacked a player who can make it stick up there, I think Matt smith would do this very well and score a few goals too. He has absolutely no pace but would fit our system, I don't believe the players we have would just lump it to him.. (Pack and Flint may chuck a couple up now and again though, granted) I know Wilbs has always been very good at this for us previously but it doesn't seem to be happening for him just now and we need an option..
I would love Matt Smith to come back - good player and as important has a top drawer attitude. Fulham will not let him go though so irrelevant. I think the club have handled the Fredericks thing with a great deal of compassion and understanding - Cotts spoke very well about it on the radio on Saturday
When he heard of their interest he jumped at the chance to sign for a massive club, 5 minutes after signing for us, the mind boggles at his personal greedy reasons..
I've always said that loyalty in football can only exist if it goes both ways. Clubs aren't loyal to their players, so there's no reason for a player to be loyal to us. It's been said that he left for personal reasons. I reckon it's best left at that.
sorry ender, but disloyalty really only lies one way, a club can legally be held to a contract except in the most exceptional circumstances- but a player...no there above all that
Change their minds like the wind and when you have a mindset that is all about ME loyalty, and anything approaching it, doesn't exist. Selfish idiots.
Who cares! he's gone and he didn't want to be here.. Whatever the reasons I would sooner him gone than sulking in amongst our squad.
