Newcastle hoping to sign him up in the coming days. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...wcastle-united-hoping-sign-blackburn-11582266 He and Jamaal Lascelles would be water tight at the back.
Would be a good signing. I would have liked us to go in for a cheeky offer for skrtel but maybe his wages would be to high.
We have to be realistic I suppose, you are asking players to come in and watch Mbemba/Lascelles. Flint, Cathcart and Hanley are probably the right sort of level. They will offer competition.
The Blackburn price is £6m apparently. We don't seem to be far away as I heard we went in with £3m, then £4.5m. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...o-pay-1636m-for-blackburn-rovers-grant-hanley
£5.5M Deal agreed. Hanley is now travelling to Tynside to finalise the deal. It's reported to be the first of two signings this week.
I recall watching Grant Hanley for Blackburn in the Prem, this was a few years ago granted (get it Granted! Grant HAHA) Anyways, he was playing alongside phil Jones a lot at the time and Hanley stood out. When uinited went in for phil jones, i thought they were mistaken as Hanley looked the better player at the time, but I have seen very little of him since they've been outside the top flight.
Well this is definitely a good signing imo - both premiership and championship experience, good fitness record playing almost every game last season, captain of his club, and decent competition for Mbemba and Laecelles. Surprises Norwich didn't go for him as he'd have fitted in their well imo, well they've missed out now. Central mid is the final piece of the jigsaw, Lucas would great but unlikely to come. We're still missing the Nolan/Rob Lee goal scoring midfielder.
Lucas from Liverpool (p-ex with Gini+cash) could be the other. Not sure about the bit I read about him being offered the captaincy to try and tempt him into making the drop into the fizzy pop league tho :-( WTF?
