    Newcastle defender ruled out until May

    Newcastle will be without a specialist left-back for the foreseeable future, Massadio Haidara ruled out at least until May with an 'ongoing' knee injury.

    The news means that United will be playing without a specialist left-back for the foreseeable future, with Davide Santon having being moved on and Paul Dummett already confirmed as missing the rest of the campaign.

    John Carver has told the local papers that Haidara is suffering from an ‘ongoing’ knee injury but hopes to have him back sometime in May.

    Coloccini is due to return on 19 April for the Tottenham home match which would allow the impressive Daryl Janmaat to return to right-back, meaning Ryan Taylor could switch over to the left where he has filled in on many occasions.

    However, against Sunderland and Liverpool it appears almost certain that United will have arguably their two most effective players having to play out of position once again.

    Jack Colback likely to stay at left-back and Janmaat in the middle of defence.

    It's ok, we have ample cover since we signed all of those defenders in January. Oh, hang on a minute............

    'What's that coming over the hill is it a left back?'

    Ironic considering Pardew used to love bringing on left backs. Spoiled for choice at one time.

    Don't worry, from another thread, our large scale recruitment of last season will hold us in good stead.

    <cheers>

    That's like saying you've got Bella Emberg, Susan Boyle and Janet Street Porter in front of you and you're spoiled for choice of women.

    This is getting silly now. We seem to have planned for the best case scenario with injuriies instead of factoring in that we might have a few people out. What do the physio team do there - or are they out injured as well?

    FFS the club is just a joke now.

    It's like the players don't want to play and are finding reasons to be injured, suspended or loaned out.

    You are right bunch of miserable ****s. This **** is hilarious. This is proper backs to walls/underdog/siege mentality type of stuff. This country was built on thriving in these situations. Its the loss of this strength in our character that is the reason why we are so **** at stuff. Its 11 v 11 come derby day, stand up and be counted (I accept it may be 8 v 11 come game time)

    If the choice is too hard, you could always ask for a foursome?
