I have a friend who is a publisher and whilst having a pint with him one day asked him if he believed the old adage that "everybody has a book in them". His reply " Yes they do, but no f****r will want to read it! So basically anyone can write a book, but very few can write a good book.
Dose keeping a diary throughout my life count? They're full of memoirs, poems, verses and drawings. There's a few books within those pages.
Does anyone remember the Fighting Fantasy series (by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone) from about 20 - 30 years ago? You had to make choices as you read through eg: There is a troll ahead. Do you (a) run (b) fight? For (a), turn to page 10, for (b), turn to page 15. An role-playing game on paper. I wrote ome of those when I was about 10. Fully illustrated and everything. It was rubbish
I've written a Novella, 17,000 words. Never got published as nowadays you need to hire an agent and I could not be arsed. One day I may turn it into a fully fledged Novel, one day. I have also started work on a screenplay but that's just a work in progress.
I do, I bought some and they were ****. A good few years ago I bought some Call of Cthulu role playing books which were in a similar vein but much more interesting and relied on proper character generation rather than random stats and simple 6 sided dice.
