OK so I've only been to one away game, but I've been listening to the commentary of the home games, and while the fans at Oxford were clearly real passionate Charlton fans, the atmosphere at home games sounds flat as a pancake. Comments from those who have attended both home and away?
I've been to one home game @ForestHillBilly; that was Shrewsbury and that atmospher was flatter than my first ever girlfriend... This, what I see on the pitch don't resemble anything Charlton anymore.
Only been to home games, missing Wimbledon, I moved to north lower from upper for the season, it's dreadful. Can't comment on aways
Drink fuelled geezers at Oxford that do not go often. The game next month against the caravan dwellers will be just the same. "Just sell the club"..............
Bury - away support 1,100 - noise excellent, flares when we scored, kicked off with Johnson at the end. Walsall - away support 750 - noise excellent, protest songs throughout the game. Fleetwood - away support around 700 , acoustics meant noise not so good, & it was a long old trek Oxford - away support 1400, noise & protest songs excellent The difference between the homes and aways this season is that the "Werthers Original, I Just Want To Watch The Football" pervy raincoat mob only go to the homes. The proper fans go to the aways. Gillingham should be a cracker
Guess I've fallen out of the "proper" fans bracket. I'm far too trendy to wear a raincoat, but I will hit on your daughters. I am the anomaly!
Nailed on Gillingham will be another protest game. Shame there is no roof on the away end for the acoustics.
I found it very encouraging. Listening to the commentaries on the home games they sound like U-18 games at Sparrows Lane. Mind you I didn't go for a drink at H/T so missed the hassle that some had with a bottleneck, but I came away with hope that we shall overcome in the end.
Won't be cold enough, and I'll be in the caravan dwellers end. Bradford it shall reappear, then you mugs need to buy me a drink to apologise to me for the verbal batterings I have received in the past(and the future).
If I knew who you were, I'd buy you a whiskey, and give you suggestions on where to buy your next coat. I'd even lower the standards to include M&S. a nice Italian cashmiere 3/4 jacket. Something in a dark brown or grey colour.
I'll settle for a Heineken. I'm off to Gunwharf Quays in November so I can restock up on MORE fashionable clobber.
