All this funding & investment pouring in to Hull seems to come from our own Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council & central Government. Do we ever get anything from the EU?
No I prefer the 'pastoral of ships up streets' with it facing High Street. Thats the Queens Dock basin, would like to see a replica of HMS Bounty in the dry dock next door where it was built.
I supose they expect most visitors to come on from Dock Office Row and it will look more impressive that way round. Based on that image, it looks like one of the three docks will be filled in and that big apartment building isn't currently there.
One the works are done on the Maritime Museum, we'll be able to go up the tower and view the inside of the turret... please log in to view this image
It's between Drypool Bridge and North Bridge, there's actually four abandoned dry docks there at the moment, three on the left and one of the right. From the image, it looks like they're going to develop the first two dry docks with a visitor centre in between, then fill in the third one (there was never any plans to do anything with the one on the other side of the river).
I think I know where you mean... near the Bounty pub (does that still exist?). In fact, what is in that area it must be derelict??
It's not there. it's some sort of training centre now, there's a few of the nice old dock office buildings still there, but not a lot else, that's why they want to develop it... please log in to view this image
