Steve could move Clucas into centre midfield, Dave to left back Taylor right back and Elmo RW with Maloney LW. I hope we smash them - I really don't think Derby look that good.
Don't hate him, just think we look better when he doesn't start. Thought he was pretty effective at coming on once we were winning. Although I did dislike him after Charlton away, when I thought he put in a pretty shameful performance.
One of my mates is a Derby fan he's one of those fans (much like the Leicester ones I know) who think the "mighty Rams" are the best team in the league and because their attendances are above average it gives them a divine right to be a Premier League team. His support borders on cringe worthy, full of Facebook posts about his team, stupid pictures and memes of them being "top of the table" (last season of course). So, naturally, they'll beat us and he'll spend the next few months telling me that they're going to win the league, they're the best team in the league and we're not good enough to go up. It is, as they say, written in the stars. And it'll be Tom Ince who signs it off, just you wait.
Met a Boro fan last Thursday who was genuinely surprised when I said I thought we had a better squad on paper than them, despite having just beaten them 3-0. Having said that, I do have a bad feeling about the Derby game.
I think we'll have enough quality to edge it 2-1 with Hernandez back in and Maloney on the left wing, but a draw will be ok with three weak teams coming up in the next few weeks...Leeds (A), Bolton (H), Rotherham (A). I heard Brad Johnson is suspended (yellow cards?). Not sure if that's true but good if he is.
BJ is certainly not playing CT. Will be replaced by JB? OT.Have you read the latest posts on the History thread?
I think it'll be another hammering as the reality dawns Derby are here to make up the numbers. 3-1 City.
Just took a look at it BMB. Unfortunately my stack of the old Green Mails were thrown out when we moved from Montreal to LA in 1970 although I do still have over a thousand Hull City programs going back to the late 1940s, unfortunately not many for away matches and that January 1952 game at Man U. is not among them. However I do have another large book with newspaper reports on City games going back to the early 1900s and I'll take a look through that tomorrow morning to see if the game is covered in there. Pleased that Johnson is out of their line up on Friday. Good player and always caused us trouble.
They are weak teams, but history dictates that these are the teams that we will struggle against. Especially the two away from home, by the time we will play them they will probably need the points and having seen us against Bristol City they'll probably fancy their chances.
To quote Luke Skywalker, I have a very bad feeling about this. This might be the one where the unbeaten run ends.
Actually yes, a few have but who cares about them ?. So maybe you should take a chill pill prior to spouting off.
Too true ^^^^ this. Any Hull City win will do. But without Hughes and Johnson Derby lack quality where it matters imo. Derby will only win IF we are poor.
They're only two points behind us and Hughes has been out all season, he's hardly going to be a big miss for them on Friday.
Not all season - opening game @ home to Bolton Hughes suffered the injury. However, Derby would be a bigger danger with him and Johnson playing. Now Derby have lost Johnson for the game that helps us. Overall, imo, I don't see Derby having our quality. Other than maybe Tom Ince wanting to prove a point who in the Derby team would make our starting eleven ?
Hendrick would get in over Meyler, Jason Shackell would probably do a job better than Maguire at present and Andi Weimann would probably get in somewhere. It's superficial comparison anyway, just because their team isn't as good as ours doesn't mean we're going to win. In fact with City we're just as likely to lose to Rotherham as we are to beat Boro. We didn't show much against 20th placed Bristol City and their entire XI was worse than ours.
