So it looks like its a 3 horse race to win the league out of Barnet, us and Grimsby. Here is the up to date table following Grimsbys game in hand that was played tonight... please log in to view this image Here are the remaining fixtures for all 3 clubs... BarnetRoversGrimsbyAlfreton (a)Macclesfield (a)Welling (a)Nuneaton (h)Chester (h)Gateshead (h)Dartford (a)Kidderminster (a)Alfreton (a)Halifax (h)Southport (h)Wrexham (h)Kidderminster (a)Dover (a)Southport (a)Gateshead (h)Alfreton (h)Aldershot (h) Whats your predictions on how many points do you think that Barnet, Rovers and Grimsby will get out of these 6 remaining games? Rovers got the early kick off on Saturday so both Barnet and Grimsby will know our result before their kick off. A win for us will put pressure on them. A defeat for us gives Barnet and Grimsby the advantage. A draw will just not be good enough I feel.
Looking at the league table and how many draws we have had, drives home to me that we would be in a commanding position clear at the top with we managed to win 4 of those 14 draws. That would have given us another 8 points. And im being generous about turning just 4 of those drsws into wins. Im sure we could have easily won more of those games. FGR away drew 1-1. We were leading 1-0. Had enough chances to have won that game before and after FGR scored. Dover home drew 1-1. We were leading 1-0 at 90 mins. But then conceded a goal in injury time due to lack of concentration. Aldershot away drew 2-2. We were leading 2-1. Failed to see out the game. Chester away drew 2-2. We were leading 2-0. Threw a 2 goal lead away. Alfreton away drew 0-0. A game that we dominated but could break through. Wrexham away drew 0-0. The game that McChrystal went in goal and we still managed to get forward and was unlucky when Wall's free kick thumped the bar! Welling away drew 0-0. Currently 3rd bottom. Should have won this. Woking away drew 0-0. Taylor scored twice but both disallowed. Replays show 1 definately should have counted as was not offside. Robbed. Dartford away drew 2-2. Poor pitch. We were leading 2-1 with 10 mins to go. They are currently 2nd bottom. Shoul have won this. Halifax away drew 2-2. Another poor pitch. We were 2-0 down & came back but wasted so many chances that we could/should have won it. Thats 10 of our 14 drews that I feel we could have won. Thats an extra 20 points in our favour. We would have been crowned champions by now. But we cant win them all of course. But 4 of these minimum should have been won that would have put us top by 6 clear points. We have simply drew too many and that could be the thing that cost us promotion!
I reckon we'll finish 3rd Now where did I put my tin hat !!!! (Please feel free to slate me if we win the league !!!)
I think... 1 Grimsby 2 Rovers 3 Barnet 4 Maccs 5 Eastleigh / FGR / Woking If we win all 6 games I feel we will win the league.I dont think we will though win all 6 games. I think the usual issue of drawing too many will hit us again. I hope I am wrong. If we dont win all 6 games then Grimsby will win the league. Then its out of us and Barnet who will finish 2nd. The next 3 games is favourable for Barnet. Ours aint. But if we can stay within 3 points of Barnet after the next 3 games then the last 3 games is more favourable for us than Barnet and thats where we could pass them. But only if we keep up with them over the next 3 games of ours. If we dont then I think you will be right. 3rd. Whatever happens, I am 100% confident that DC and the players will give their best and will fight all the way.
As the eternal pessimist I believe in DC and the team, a team that looks proud to wear the blue and white quarters and although does not always play well always plays to the final whistle. We unfortunately cannot win all our games as much as we would like to, even Chelsea ,Man city or Man Utd cant do that and look how many millions they have spent, and before someone tells me that the premier league is harder players are signed according to the league we play in
What will be will be and although looking back always throws up the 'what might have beens' it has no relevance to the position in hand whatsoever. The fact of the matter is there are six games that remain and three points between the major contenders, it's almost like a six game season from now on in and I hope this is what DC and the coaching staff are drilling in to the players, forget what has gone {the negatives anyway} and concentrate on trying to attain maximum points from the remaining fixtures and I think if we can achieve that or almost that then I believe we shall be playing our football again next term back up in League two.
Saturday is a "must not lose" game !! Nuneaton have hit form, & Alfreton have to play all 3, Every time I look at the remaining fixtures I see different results !! DC has the quality players to get us up, so let's leave him to do what he does best !!!
sure looking tight ALFRETON holds the main key KIDDERS GATES SOUTHPORT the lesser I would say Rovers finish on 88 points
Grimsby look home and dry but you never know in football lol. If we win all our games and Barnet so much as draw one, we will finish top. So lets make sure we win every game!
I'm quietly confident. We've been the form side for a while now. It's all about consistency at this stage. We're still very hard to beat and with Lines and Easter on board we'll only get better offensively. Grimsby are definitely the main threat, and I hope we both go up to be honest.
