I know karoo was not the greatest ISP in history but over the past week it has been getting ridicolously slower and slower, i loaded up the google home page today and it took 50 secs to fully load, previously it was up in literally 2 seconds. Anyone else noticed a slowing down recently, i looked at lightspeed but not in my area (sutton park) yet.
Call up technical support if you haven't already, open til 9pm. It's stupid how many people complain about issues but don't bother calling in.
i have light stream and it's amazing. i have heard though that the copper wired kc is getting even slower
Broadband speeds in Beverley are terrible, I used to get around 1.2mb/s down... Fibre couldn't come quick enough for me and a few months ago I got it... Im now getting around 32mb/s down... absolute lightening fast..
It's like Virgin media, only slower ............... a lot slower judging by the complaints we keep reading.
Malwarebytes . its not your speed despite how poor it may be , its add-ins stopping internet explorer from running properly .. download Malwarebytes.org program , you don't need to do the trial and update and do a full scan , you will be surprised how much better you run afterwards
Long story short been covered before..... I live East Hull, Garden Village area, lightstream stopping at next street, not in my area anytime soon. I was getting 1mbps if lucky on normal Karoo Six month squabble with KC going round in circles repeating myself with different tech guys. Wrote to them recorded delivery, saying they were in breach of contract, not providing a fit for purpose service Gave them 14 days to reply, heard nowt. Sent second letter saying 14 days to respond again before cancelling direct debit, again repeating them being in breach of contract not delivering what paid for.... Again heard nowt. Cancelled direct debit. In meantime tested and signed up to EE 4G mobile broadband using small wireless router 3" square. Gone to 40Mbps all day every day....at £28 per month for 40GB download limit (not huge but OK for my usage) No KC landline, no Karoo payments. I also asked for compensation for the time not being able to use piss poor Karoo service. They sent a credit note, not a cheque, a credit note for a service I was no longer using. I then wrote to Bill Halbert the CEO by special delivery, (I am also a KC shareholder got his details of Investor Relations). Within 48 hours all contracts were cancelled without charge, his assistant ringing being as nice as pie, and compensation paid by Faster payment. In brief and in conclusion...... You are in a contract if you are getting around 1Mbps, write to them asking for it to be investigated within 14 days. If they can't improve it, or resolve it to your satisfaction, write to them holding them in breach of contract. This is important. You must state they are in breach of contract, dont simply say you want to cancel. Ask for compensation/refund of monies paid for the time you have a contract for them but they are not providing the service contracted for. Stand your ground, put everything in writing. Sure it took me 7 months to get sorted, but the compensation (my money returned in effect), has paid for three flights this September to Spain and Italy, and I can actually use the internet properly.
Lol, that was the short version believe me...... My favourite bit was after months of tests, they told me "It would be best for me to use the Internet on a Monday dinner time"
I have lightstream but cant say it's made a fantastic difference. Just tested, getting ave of 65mbps download, 26 up. Should I be demanding more?
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ click on free download , update and run a scan , what antivirus do you run by any chance ? if its AVG or Avast then that as well will be slowing your internet access and your computer in general due to the generic plugins they put into your browsers ... Mcafee are just as bad .. basic setup for any machine should be windows 7 or upwards , Microsoft security essentials and Malwarebytes free as well as Ad block plus for any of your browsers (chrome , internet explorer etc) .. as long as the people using the machine have sense you will never get any trouble and your computer will run as best as it can do. Saved a lot of people who were willing to pay more to "fix" stuff but in the end their subscription etc was actually the main cause of any problems. another common one I see is two anti viruses running at the same time, a whole world of trouble that one but I digress
