No reason to criticise too much. This was always going to be a tough game and our amazing away run was bound to end some time. This isn't a result to dwell on, with next week simply an opportunity to begin another fine run of form.
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Hopefully we've learnt a few things from this one, and there's no disgrace in losing to the top side. We'll come back stronger.
Good points well made. Obviously there is a difference in opposition this season compared to last season so it will be harder. But then we need to recruit better to deal with that. We havent improved the squad up front. Its still the same strikers who, lets be honest, struggled to find goals last season. Yes Taylor got over 20 but how many were pens. In fact we are a player down where Blissett has gone. DC needs to bring in 1/2 strikers who are better than what we have. Not just to sit on the bench. Last few games we have played very well but not been ruthless enough with taking our chances. Surely missing Leadbitter cant be the reason why we couldnt perform better or create chances yesterday. Was it just a bad day at the office and we will be just fine or do we need more players not just to boost squad numbers but to actually improve the starting 11?
1 thing about DC that we know about is that he will expect a lot better from the players next game. He wont dwell on the defeat and we should hopefully see a better performance next game. But I think we need to improve the team though.
What's frustrating is Orient didn't even sound anything special two defensive mistakes cost us the goals and had we converted are chances then its another game we could of won I'm surprised Gosling didn't start he played well when he came on last week for Leadbitter against Barnet. Strange how Lucas isn't considered ready for the first team yet but Little gets a game I think DC needs to get in a RB in on loan along with a Striker or two.
It will be interesting if we can see the penalty from a different angle. The referee was right in line, so he probably got it right. The decision was a game changer. No doubt about that! At the moment we are still in the very early stages of adapting to our new system in the final third. It won't happen for us straight away. but IMO we will get there fairly soon. So far in his tenancy DC seems to have thought most things through and come out on top, so I don't see that we will see major changes yet. Having said that I am always in favour of a creative attacker in the midfield, but they are not easy to locate at this level. I would liked to have seen AD given a chance in that role but hey ho..............
No disgrace in losing at Orient (who I think will win it) - the bottom line is that you have made a really solid start
Penalty looks a bit suspect can't see why the second goal was Little's fault. Crap defending for second all round
Didn't look like a penalty for the first and it was a great first touch by their striker which set up the goal. Don't think it was crap defending.
DC didn't seem very happy with the ref and not giving much away about the transfer window and players coming in
The clip doesnt show Little giving the ball away. He apparently tried to take on 2 players at once. He lost the ball and then the cross immediately came in where it was a good 1st touch by the Orient player who faked a shot to send Parkes for an ice cream and then slotted it home. Could have been avoided if Little didnt do what he did! Also if Parkes didnt allow himself to look stupid.
