After Oddy's post I had to take a look about. How about this poor soul? please log in to view this image
The Democrats were told that voting was just a case of putting an X in a box, but unfortunately the women found that theirs would not get in one. Can somebody send Arnold Schwarzenegger back from the future to stop Donald Trump? “Donald – you're fired!”
I love this one from member Wooperts_duck on the QPR football forum: I phoned Radio Merseyside today, to enter their mystery prize competition. The presenter answered and said, "Congratulations on being our first caller, all you need to do is answer the following question correctly, to win our Mystery Grand Star Prize".. "That Fantastic!" I called out in delight. "Feel Confident?" The presenter asked, "It's a Maths Question." "Well, I've got a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University," I proudly replied, "and I've taught maths to A level students for the last 20 years" "Ok then, to win our grand prize of 2 tickets to a Liverpool game and to meet the players after the game, what is 2+2 ?" "7", I replied.
Wee bit worried about the cruel, undignified, unfair and tasteless wisecracks at the expense of the shell-suited, permed, moustachioed, robbing toerags from Liverpool!
I've always been a Ken Curtis fan. For those who don't know who he was, he was a regular in the classic tv show Gunsmoke which ran from 1955 through to 1975. Curtis played a character called Festus Haggen. The role of Festus was developed over a series performances which started in a radio show where he played Dink Swink. From there he became Charlie McCorry, then Monk in Gun Will Travel. Curtis further developed the character as Skinner Graydon in Death Valley Days, which lead to Gunsmoke. I've just had a look at him as Monk. He's well on his way here. But this post is about the beginning of the journey. Here he is a Dink Swink.
No access to video clip however comments on Gunsmoke and Have Gun Will Travel prompted memories of Laramie, Bronco, Cheyenne, Wagion Train and others. Up here in the Northlands I can view Gunsmoke daily on one of the Sky Cinema channels. Simpler days when the baddies wore black hats and grew moustaches as opposed to today with their ludicrous hairstyles, orange skin, suits and red ties!
Loved old Buddy, found just three of his 'quotes' on Wikipedia: "As a child my family's menu consisted of two choices: take it or leave it." "I've had a few arguments with people, but I never carry a grudge. You know why? While you're carrying a grudge, they're out dancing." "Golf is more fun than walking naked in a strange place, but not much." (On the third, D. Trump and others - please note!). Oh, erm, here's a few more from old Buddy, that bloody 'Duck' one (the second)...Mamma Mia!
Referee Anthony Taylor says that his bad penalty decision in the game between Swansea and Burnley was nothing to do with his stag do days before in Marbella; he just missed his appointment at Specsavers...
