Massimo Luongo joins QPR from Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee 22-year-old signs a three year deal at Loftus Road Head Coach Chris Ramsey worked with Australian international at Tottenham QPR have completed the signing of Swindon Town midfielder Massimo Luongo for an undisclosed fee. The Australian international has penned a three year contract at Loftus Road. Luongo enjoyed a stellar season in 2014/15, contributing six goals and eight assists as Town reached the League One Play-Off Final, only to succumb to defeat against Preston North End at Wembley. He was also voted into the PFA League One team of the year by his peers. QPR Head Coach, Chris Ramsey, is delighted with the addition of the 22-year-old playmaker, commenting: “Mas is a player I know a lot about having played a part in his development at Spurs. “He brings quality on the ball; the ability to link up play all across the pitch; and his goals and assists record at club and international level speaks volumes for a creative midfielder. “As with any young player, there are areas of his game that need improving, but knowing him as I do, I know he will embrace the learning curve of playing for us in the Championship. “I'm confident he will flourish at Loftus Road.” please log in to view this image FROM THE SHADOWS: Luongo looking forward to the Championship this season Luongo, who played a pivotal part in the Socceroos’ triumph at the Asian Cup in January, scoring in the final on the way to being named player of the tournament, is relishing the move to Loftus Road, commenting: “Regular football is important to me. That’s why QPR appealed to me. I’m at my best when I’m playing week in, week out – I’m all for playing as many games as possible in a season. “The step up to the Championship is going to be a challenge, but I’ll always back myself. “I sat down with the manager (Chris Ramsey), and the big thing for me was where he wants to go with the club. Also, how he wants me to be involved attracted me. He sold it to me really well. “I never want to rest on my laurels – I always want to push on. I’m very excited to now be a QPR player. I can’t wait to start pre-season and get my head down.” Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/m...swindon-town-2474048.aspx#BGXWmmxtl18QJBvd.99

Blimey it's only 4 days since the end of the season and I'm already beginning to look forward to 8th August and the start of the new season....... This and yesterdays cull gives grounds for optimism.....
Proper chuffed having watched this. Doing the business early and stocking up with some good eggs. A few more signings like this and we will have more pace in the team! I feel this summer is not going to be so sh*t after all if we keep doing our business like this.
Great news!! Type of signings we should have been making years ago. By getting a player in first we strengthen our buying and selling position as well. Almost looks like we are learning!!
He was pretty highly rated at Spurs before he left and I was quite surprised that we sold him. There were a bunch of clauses on his contract, including a buy-back, so it's clear that he's expected to go onto better things. Tim Sherwood was after him too, so you've done well to nick in ahead of Villa. Hope he continues his progress and it gives me another reason to keep tabs on QPR. Who's the other Swindon player you're after? Another one of our former youngsters, by any chance? Ramsey's being sensible by signing talented kids that he's already worked with, so it wouldn't surprise me.
That's the scary thing! QPR fans seems to be able to put aside the hurt very quickly and start to get excited all over again!!
The other one is Ben Gladwin. I played against him when he was at Marlow 2013/14 so he has really shot up from non-league recently. A big lad, great feet but needs to be coached to progress.
What gives you the right to suggest he needs to be coached to progress? You were probably the worst player on the pitch against Gladwin mate. Garbage.
Tad harsh and ever so slightly OTT........in this day and age shouldn't there be a # in there somewhere?
