Saints flew back to Hurn and arrived there at about 01:15 a.m. A long day for all, the away fans are the real heroes. I hope if they do Friday night football again that it is somewhere nearer home.

Agree it was very upfront and refreshing, but I suspect he won't be as forthcoming as the season wears on. Not that I blame him. Too much risk of alienating someone without much gain. Good to know how he thinks, though.

Really? Then you should do that. You only live once and you seem pretty miserable & boring, so it might cheer you right up!

Chelsea v Liverpool and Everton v Palace are the next two (and so far only confirmed) Friday night games.

You can be almost certain that we won't have another Friday night game this season, home or away.

And you sound like someone who thinks he's funny (you're really not). Maybe you should buy a book of jokes.

He came over as intelligent and honest, but I would rather he kept it to himself and the team. I worry when a player sounds pissed off.

He'll be banging on the gaffers door monday morning, not about his place in the team, but about signing a couple attacking players before the window shuts!
He feels like a winner already, love it, but as people have said, you can't do that after every defeat.

I've drawn a line under the game.

    Onwards and upwards.

It's refreshing we have players playing for us that do wear their hearts on their sleeves....it's passionate football that saints fans have always loved and I think its imminent...a goal hungry striker and i think it'll be all ok.

It's going to be a great season.

A lot of teams are going to get spanked at OT this season, there's a good balance about their team now, & its set to get better.

There are some decent Referees out there. However all referees make mistakes even the best in the world.
At Our level of play there is not a chance that referees would be biased toward any team. With the scrutiny that goes on these days at every match it would be very obvious if a Ref favoured any team.
It is also understandable why there can be differences of opinion as to how every one sees an incident. You may be biased and see it one way or you may be neutral and see the same thing.
What we can't see or sometimes understand is what (if anything) goes through the Referees mind precisely at the time he makes decisions. Human nature being what it is we cannot read peoples mind and even if we could we still might disagree.
No one is ludicrous because they have an opinion, no matter how outlandish, it is their opinion. They should be respected for it. It is then up to you to persuade them to see it from your point of view.
Referees are no different they see incidents as they see them and blow accordingly. It doesn't matter if we see it differently its happened gone and dusted. It is good though to express an opinion for discussion.

[QUOTE="He came over as intelligent and honest, but I would rather he kept it to himself and the team. I worry when a player sounds pissed off.[/QUOTE]

So Footballers are in a Lose-Lose situation?

He was honest, which is good, but he won't be honest for long (which is bad?) Except not being honest is good, although I'm glad he was honest o_O:emoticon-0105-wink:

And I think Fran worries whatever anyone says :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I think he sounded like a winner. He didn't criticise anyone personally but said as a team they should and could do better. I think they are professional enough to take that especially players like Davo and Shane (etc to be honest) And if they can't take his honesty then they will crumble at some later stage.
I see VVD having 'words' with teammates during a game, shows leadership as long as it is taken positively

Did anyone else notice that MOTD's highlights were basically Man U's two goals plus a weakish, easily saved shot from Pogba, a header over the bar from six yards by Pogba and a pitifully wide shot from...er... Pogba?

    Dire.
