Anyone know owt about him, apart from that he is Dutch? Sunderland are closing in on securing a loan deal for Chelsea star Marco van Ginkel, according to reports. The 22-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan at Italian giants AC Milan but is understood to be keen on a regular run of games in the Premier League. Van Ginkel is unlikely to break into the Chelsea first team, so the Champions are willing to loan him out again. And Dick Advocaat’s Sunderland are the favourites to capture his signature. Sunderland are in the market for a creative pass-maste, with Advocaat keen to strengthen his central midfield options. There has been interest from Newcastle United too but reports in Holland say their North East rivals are closing in on a deal for the Dutch ace, who has made two Chelsea appearances. The 5ft 9in midfielder, from Amersfoort in Holland, was an £8million signing for the Blues from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer of 2013 http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...elsea-star-marco-van-ginkel-reports-1-7338267
If I remember correctly he is a good box to box midfielder, has a bit of a creative spark too Looking at his stats last year for AC Milan, played in 17 games, got 1 goal and 3 assists Started at Vitesse but if Chelsea/AC Milan take a chance on you, got to be alright! Think if played as the attacking midfielder in our midfield 3 he could be very good!
What ! Excuse my ignorance, but, looking at those stats, Indi, he doesn't strike me as being an attacking midfielder
As said I believe AC Milan used him as a box-to-box midfielder as opposed to an attacking midfielder Sure he is like a poor mans Oscar
He was brought through as a DM but AC used him as Box to Box and he played regularly 2nd half of last season. But ultimately he's yet another lazy Dutch link. Take them all with a pinch of salt for now.
Seems viable again, logic that Chelsea would want him to play in the PL. The good thing if this were to happen is Chelsea don't tend to ever give lads the break and they can usually be kept if they do well, so while I agree it's a 'Dutch lad, Dutch manager' thing, it might have some legs. We absolutely need something more in midfield, a lot more in fact.
We need to get cracking mate, good that Coates is in but we all know we need more. There's a load of links but none of them feel especially weighty.
This story is running again in todays echo http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/van-the-man-heading-to-sunderland-1-7339725
