What route do you take? We are at Mount Vic Flicks(Mount Victoria Cinema) on Sat, so next village to you for a couple of hours. Will probably stop at the Blackheath fishery for fish/chips on our way home to Wentworth Falls.
We just go up the Great Western Highway, takes us about 2 hours which isn't too bad. Yeah we'll probably stop off in Leura for a few sweets on the way back.
As you come up to the top of hill after Bullaburra towards Wenty Falls, on the left is a big place selling garden pots. Immediately after is a large sign to Kings Tableland. We live about a kilometre down that road.
We had relations that lived in Otley whom we used to visit frequently, one day my cousin and I were in a local fish shop and automatically I asked for pattie and chips. All the other customers looked at me and the guy behind the counter said 'you're from Hull we don't do patties here' so I ended up with fish cake and chips.
When I moved to London I can't have known patties were a Hull thing, I ordered pattie and chips and got one of these... please log in to view this image
Chip Spice ... try it as a salad dressing, goes great on anything fried but in small amounts. Introduced it to some friends in the Canaries they want more next time I visit.
Chip Spice on Chicken and then fried is lovely, but not too much. Bit of chip spice and ground black pepper, bit of butter to finish the chicken off - lush
Savoury, fish or cheese patties sold in lots of places. When did this chip spice malarkey start? Mushy peas should be mushy and the consistency of curry sauce, not the dreadful dried up ****e many places sell - all it needs is a bit of boiled water, a good stir and hey presto ...
Chip Spice started being sold in Hull in 1979 in Yankee Burger. I think it was originally made somewhere near Wigan.
