Because after Dawson and Chester he was the best we had. His performance levels proved that. Hope that helps your confused mind.
Correct. Shame that our useless local media have not looked further into that. All the HDM come up with is nonsense about squad reforms.
There's an awful lot of rubbish being spouted on here. For all you know, McShane "could" have been a brilliant member of the squad or a right arsehole? He "could" have said to SB "Go F*** yourself! I've got something lined up" Don't get me wrong, I liked the guy- I respected the fact he'd put his body on the line when certain members of the squad on 2-3-4 times the wages wouldn't entertain it but at the end of the day, we don't know what's gone on- I'd say it's fair to suggest 99.999% of you are just taking gossip as the gospel truth.
It's just one mans opinion. He was still a part of a team that was relegated from the Championship. You ****ing muppet.
Erm, it's not is it? There's been several opinions from several sources quoted now. And how many opinions are you going off anyway?
To be fair, the 'he can't be that good, he was relegated' reason is pretty flawed. Was Charlie Austin no good in the Prem?
Nope Quill, every single player who has ever played in a relegated team has been terrible. Its stone cold FACT and if you say otherwise then you "talk utter ****ing ****e". Paul Kendrick must be dreading the email he receives from GLP telling him that he also "talks utter ****ing ****e". I mean, GLP saw Maguire play for Wigan a lot more than Kendrick did.
I didn't say he wasn't good, I said he was 'Ok' but not outstanding. How can you be outstanding as part of a defence that conceded a **** load of goals? Strikers are defined solely on the goals scored - so the Austin example is a poor choice. Defenders are judged on goals conceded. My opinion is based on a friend and his fellow ST holders at Wigan who have seen him play all of his games. He used the collective to describe him as 'ok'. An outstanding defensive display over 16 games would have in my opinion helped Wigan secure Championship football. In the same way that Warren Joyce brought in recruits for us in our great escape season - that was outstanding. Did Maguire or the other loanees have a similar impact? No, hence just 'ok'. It's not difficult.
Just so I get this right - the secondhand opinions you quote are correct and anyone else's secondhand opinions are wrong? As long as I understand then that's super.
Arf - genius. Go back to pages 3 and 4 of this highly tedious thread and see exactly who responded in the first instance of outrage using capitals and swearing to a completely reasonable post of "Apparently Maguire has been outstanding".
I agree it's highly tedious. So why have you dragged it up again today? My first post on the matter was very civil actually, then just deteriorated in response to your usual condescending and patronising style responses. Anyway, time to leave it as frankly, it's boring.
Becasuse you said I was talking "utter ****ing ****e" and then there was a major media article quoting the Wigan football correspondant who agreed with me. You've said that several times now.
Maguire is a better player already than Mcshane, hopefully all the babies weeping over Maccas departure will have got over it by the time the season starts, as well as the revisionists, he was only playing his best football the last few months of the season, before that was his usual inconsistent self
I was disappointed they let Maguire go out on loan as when i saw him in his few brief appearances I thought he looked a class above Mcshane to be honest, Bruce obviously trusted Mcshanes experience more but like it or loath it, we went down with Mcshane at the back
In the Hull Daily Mail = Major? By Paul Kendrick Wigan Evening Posts local hack Agreed with you? So, now we have established that they are your words. Thanks for clarifying. I think that concludes this conversation.
It's clear Mcshane upset the applecart too much behind the scenes but put him out of your mind and look forward to the defence we might have next season with Dawson/Chester/Davies/Maguire and Bruce jr. thats more than enough without Mcshane, it is a shame about Rosy though and you wonder if he was in a bit of a clique with Hudds and Livermore, who knows what goes on behind the scenes
