Personally think a cheaper rum is much better than a cheaper brandy, and rum even at the higher end is 'allowed' to be a mixer so can suit your mood. Straight for a relaxing sip, with ginger ale/lime or coke/lime or sherry/angostura for cocktail 'o' clock (dark n stormy/cuba libre/manhattan blue parrot), or something in the middle just a good wedge of squeezed lime and ice.

At the price, Brujal > Appleton for me. Plus I think it's stocked in Waitrose, probably other supermarkets. Never tried Angostura 1919.

I'm going to put a theory to the test here. I think in certain situations football follows romantic patterns. I've long believed that this weekend was set up for NUFC to fail; omens saying Bruce has never beaten Man U, Allardyce returning to the club and so on.

However, having listened and read comments from both managers, I think West Ham will get beat and we will survive. My reason is...and mock if you must....entirely down to Karma.

The pundits, the experts and of course Allardyce himself have more or less all claimed he's returning to the club who "shouldn't have sacked him". What we, the fans who had to put up with him, know is that he was an arrogant, insufferable man hell bent on producing the worst football ever seen at the club. He deserved to be sacked tenfold, just as he deserves to be put to the sword at West Ham. He's a horrid bloke who lives up to that bullsh!t he once said about managing Real Madrid; he's John Carver Plus. I therefore think those who snigger thinking "Big Sam" is returning to dish out just desserts are wrong and that he, instead, is the one man you would want back there. This club owes him nothing, he was not hard done by in the slightest and he will be remembered in his own West Ham post-mortem as the man won 2 in 17 on his way out of Upton Park. Just a weird theory, but I think NUFC will win this match now. I also think Hull will win theirs, but unlike three years ago, there's be no orange and black orgasm.

Sam Allardyce is one of the most overrated managers that the game in this country has ever seen. A fat, arrogant tosspot.

Bri as far as I am concerned you're fully entitled to have a right good laugh at our sad excuse for a club. If it were the other way around I would laugh my balls off. Not in malice as I would rather all the NE teams be up there, but it would be hilarious. Sadly for us we are the laughing stock and have to just take it.

To be fair I expected far worse from Sunderland fans after your point vs Arsenal. Unless you're just saving it up for Sunday. <laugh><ok>

A quick quiz. Out of Carver and Allardyce:

    1. Which is the ugliest?
    2. Which one would win in a fight?
    3. Which one would get the fewest points on Mastermind?
    4. Which one really is the best in the league and capable or managing Europe's best teams?

    And the bonus question...
    Were they separated at birth?

I want you to go down fella, simple as that. But Brucie's demise would be equally satisfying. The joke isn't on you, it's the whole scenario and the no lose situation which amuses me. ;)<ale>

With the luck of the Mags I've no doubt Albert would accidentally piss in his own pint.

You never know, you could still win the Polished Turd competition and finish above us. ;)

Albert will probably piss in his own pint, down his pink chinos, in JPF'S pocket and off Level 7 (trying to aim for Carver).
