We have absolutely no chance of winning a cup, so this isn't good news at all. We now have even less chance of getting into the promotion places.
I stuck up for Elliot and was proved right on that one. I remember Leon Best initially getting a hard time too but overall his spell at the Toon was a positive one. Murphy isn't the quickest but he will act as a decent replacement for Mitro when things don't work out for him or we need to change it up a bit.
Hard thought it ever is to agree with Chaos, this is right. Mitrovic just isn't really getting there - his finishing remains garbage. I mean, it's no wonder he gave Gayle the No. 9 BEFORE they had this alleged 'finishing contest'. So if Mitro's first choice, and Murphy's his stand-in.....is it enough?? Touch and go for me. The pair of them need more chances to score than Andrew Cole did at Man U.
You're almost certainly right that we are not going to win the cup ("almost" because over the course of 4 games anything can happen) but it doesn't follow that we are harming our promotion chances by trying. Winning feels nice. Players get to like it. We went on a run of 3 straight league wins after the last league cup win even though we lost two strikers during the course of that match. Winning last night hasn't made us more likely to lose on Saturday. We are far better off going into that match coming off a win than we would be if we coming off of two losses so that we could get out of the cup and 'concentrate on the league'. Better to try to win everything and risk winning a bit less than to plan on losing a few games and ending up losing a few more.
Which Fred? Are you talking to Fredd or are you talking to Fredor or who? So many unanswered questions.
Anyone know who was captain last night, assumed it would be Shelvey or Colback but couldn't see an armband in any pictures or find in any article giving me a clue?
He's our best striker IMHO. There's a lot of criticism floating about for Mitrovic this season when he's barely played.
