Lets hope to get back to winning ways this weekend after the disappointing loss in midweek. Rotherham United are the visitors to Carrow Road on Saturday (KO 3pm) as Norwich City continue their efforts to clinch a play-off spot in the Sky Bet Championship. The Canaries will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at the Riverside Stadium in midweek where a red card for Borja Sainz after 30 minutes turned the game on its head. Thankfully his red card has now been rescinded and he is available for selection this weekend! That result leaves Norwich still in seventh, two points behind Hull City in sixth, but with Coventry City and Preston North End not far behind. The Opposition It's been a tough campaign for Rotherham, winning just three of their 36 league games. That record has them bottom of the table, 19 points adrift of safety. However, one of their three wins did come against Norwich when the two teams met at New York Stadium early in September. One to Watch Viktor Johansson (Goalkeeper) Sweden international Viktor Johansson has been a reliable performer for the Millers since joining from Leicester City. He has played in every one of their league games this year, and was a composed presence during their 2-1 win against Norwich earlier in this campaign. The Manager Leam Richardson A player with Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool and Accrington Stanley among others during his career, Leam Richardson has been in coaching since 2012. It was with Stanley that he first took over as caretaker manager in 2012 while he has since held the permanent position at the Crown Ground, and at Wigan Athletic. While with Wigan, he won the League One title in 2022. He took over at Rotherham in early December. Last Time Out After a busy summer transfer window deadline day, Norwich City travelled to New York Stadium on September 2 earlier this season. The home side would go in 2-0 in front at the break thanks to a wonderful strike from Dexter Lembikisa and a header from former Canary Jordan Hugill. Christian Fassnacht pulled one back early in the second half but Norwich would fail to find an equaliser. Positive vibes!!! ON THE BALL CITY!!!
Great stuff Suffolk! This match takes on special significance in the wake of Wednesday's red card disaster, but at least Sainz will now be available. WhoScored have updated their Preview accordingly.
WhoScored have McLean in our Probable Line-up but, as I posted earlier on the 'Boro match thread, tomorrow is the cut off date for automatic 2-match suspension for any player accumulating 10 yellow cards. Reportedly McLean currently has 9, so another tomorrow will trigger suspension. Should he, will he, be in the starting eleven tomorrow?
My guess is probably not. He could do with a rest and we could go with Núñez and Sara in midfield and Barnes behind Sargent. Kenny could be on the bench though in case we need him near the end, but hopefully we won't.
I think we will be likely to see Lungi at CB, can’t see Hanley being risked. I don’t think McLean will be dropped due to the yellow card risk
