The thing that isn't funny is that we are liable to pay him a massive wage for a couple more years unless he can keep his nose clean (amongst other parts) and find a team daft enough to sign him.

I suppose we could come to some agreement with him, but he is (or was) a valuable asset. Depends if he values being a free agent above being guaranteed millions for basically doing nothing.

You'd have to think that our legal team must be building a relatively convincing case against him in case the worst comes to worst and we have to let him go on a free.

 

At this who cares about the money. Pay him all his money up front and cut him loose. Just get him out so he is no longer associated with us. Somewhere a check into his character was missed. Hopefully that lesson is learned for the future.

Surely hes done enough now to cancel contract? How many incidents now? Assault alone is gross misconduct and we should terminate his contract on that basis.

 

I actually think that we screwed ourself over slightly by not terminating his contract the moment he assaulted Fonte.

The club were banking on being able to sell on one of their most expensive assets but unfortunately he can't go six months on loan at a club without doing something infuriatingly stupid so we're never going to sell him for a large fee.

 

If we can sack him/terminate his contract for gross misconduct on what is it now three occasions, we would be liable for a substantial financial loss due to no resale value.
Therefore we should be able to take action against him for that loss
Chelsea did something similar with Mutu when he was sacked for alleged substance abuse I believe. With this president set surely we can recoup directly from him
