12 games in and we're in 5th place, averaging 1.67 points per game. We're 6 points from the top and 5 from the automatic spots. Given that at the start of the season I think the majority of us were predicting/expecting/hoping for a respectable mid-table finish, so far has been excellent. There have been a couple of frustrating moments in dropping points in games such as Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday and even Cardiff, but all clubs experience this every season, and it shouldn't detract from the fantastic position we currently find ourselves. We should never stop looking for ways to improve and we shouldn't rest on our laurels, but we could well be on the cusp of something special. Let's enjoy the ride and give the team the best chance of success by encouraging them and not by over-criticising the inevitable set backs. Up the City!
The trouble with winning too many games and also playing well is that the expectations grow with the success. And when that stops or an under par performance comes along we see the inevitable fallout.
Many a manager has said before that the true test of a team is the manner in which they react to a defeat. We will have a very clear idea about this by Sunday next
How a manager reacts to a defeat : A wise manager would shoulder some blame. The other sort cite 'rabbits in headlights' 'players posing in front of the cameras' 'they never played to my game plan'. The latter lose the dressing room quickly. Someone should have a word in Junior's ear.
Someone should have a word in Junior's ear - 'hopefully not you ...' I've said it before. I wouldn't p*ss in his mouth if his back teeth were on fire.
