Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has insisted that Conor Washington will come good for Queens Park Rangers, as long as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink trusts him.

Washington moved from Peterborough to QPR in January, and he was immediately given the number nine shirt at Loftus Road.

There were hopes that the 23-year-old could come in and lead the line, after he netted 15 goals in his last 16 matches for Posh.

However, Washington has struggled to make an impact with the R’s - and he is yet to score in any of his first 13 appearances.

The Northern Ireland international looks to be struggling to adapt to playing in the
Championship[/a], but MacAnthony insists that he has the ability to play in the second tier.

Needs manager to back him/play him. CW takes time to settle in but when gets going..boom look out

Washington has made just six starts for QPR to date, with his other seven appearances being as a substitute.

He is likely to have a more prominent role to play next season, with the R’s planning on a clear out over the summer months.

Am I right in thinking he is the only QPR player who will be going to the European Championships?

The bloke's only had 6 starts, all of which were away from home, I think. Give him a chance.

A non-story if ever I read one. The same was said of Polter, Chery, Luongo and El Khayati. It's amazing what happens when you have a fully fit squad of payers with mature attitudes. When he is ready, he will be selected and will make his mark. The season isn't even over and already people are trawling the garbage can for something to write about.

If he's played up top with Polter or as one of the three behind him he'll be fine. It's painfully clear he's not a lone striker but he only seems to get a chance up front alone with the midfield 40 yards behind.

This is the best possible argument for giving him a chance.

Mr Mac Anthony is a very clever business man and it appears he has mugged Mr Fernandez of a few million quid. He's not the first to achieve that. Washington is not a bad little player, He was flavour of the month when Tone got his cheque book out but I feel he is worth far less than what we paid.

The squad hasn't been selected yet but yes, he is the only player in with a shout. Having scored the winner against Slovenia, I suspect he will definitely go to the tournament.

He has been a slow starter at every club he has played for, even I knew this so presumably Tone and JFH did as well. He needs game time in a decent set up. If he's not scoring after 15-20 games then we can decide whether we have been mugged.

Not quite true Stan. He scored 2 goals in his first three appearances with Newport and he scored a goal in his second appearance for Northern Ireland. He was slow off the mark at Peterborough and was prolific for St Ives.

We signed a proven goalscorer in mike sheron who then couldn't score in a free brothel...we have been conned over Washington... He was terrible at Newport county....only nakhi Wells and jay Rodriguez can save us!!
