    Match Preview;
    Our hosts on Tuesday night ended a three game losing streak on Saturday, by beating bottom of the table Rotherham 0-1. That result saw them move away from the drop zone, as they now sit 19th, on 44 points, so 2 points from 22nd. Their top scorer is Morgan Whittaker with 20 goals (!!!), followed by Ryan Hardie on 13. Scoring hasn't been their problem this year, as they've hit the net 56 times, but they've conceded 65, so only Rotherham have conceded more.

    As for us, we'll be hoping to bounce back after a frustrating home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. That defeat was our first loss in three games, and only our second loss in nine games...a turn of form which has seen us move 4 points clear of the drop zone. I know I've said it before, but one thing that often strikes me when doing these threads is the number of clubs who have strikers who score a lot more goals than ours. Chair and Dykes both have 5, Willock, Armstrong and Paal have 4 and Colback and Smyth have 3...and I know you can't snap your fingers and produce a 20+ goal a season striker, but until we starting hitting the back of the net a lot more, we're always going to struggle in this division.

    Enjoy, and hats off to you, if you are making to long trip to Plymouth on a Tuesday night. Hope it is worth the journey. Team news and manager comments to go up if on the official, and as always...

    ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!!

    I had to read that twice Dave. Our top scorers have only 5 goals. Plymouth's has 20. So we can't score and they score by the hatful. Not a great combo if we're looking for a result tomorrow night. Somehow we just mustn't lose....

    I was surprised and double checked it too. Shows how bad the other ten must be if one player has netted 20 goals and they are still only 19th.

    They haven't won at home or scored a goal in their last five home matches. Mmm

    Oh come on. Plymouth have beaten us more times than we have beaten them? Plymouth Argyle?

    Cheers Dave.

    Back in the 1920s in Div3 South only one team was promoted, Plymouth were runners-up 6 years running. Most of our defeats would be pre-war when we were less than average...

    Yep, 16 of the 25 losses happened before 1950, and 2 of the other 9 were League Cup games which we all know, don't really count.

    I remember the one in1973 when the newly promoted Gordon Jago Rangers lost 3-0 at home to third tier Plymouth. That was on Tuesday and then on the Saturday one of the games of the season when they drew 2-2 with the defending champions Liverpool during the power strike which meant all games were brought forward to start at 2.15. Next time I saw Plymouth was the 3-0 win in our promotion year under Ollie. Happy days.
