I see that there is a little controversy going on that some homeless people have been issued quick assembly tents to sleep in on the streets. One homeless chap interviewed said it made a heck of a lot of difference to him because it was a warm barrier between him and the desperate cold of the winter. There are several levels of being appalled here. The chap interviewed was aged 27 and had been sleeping rough since he was 14. That's No.1 in society's shame list. No.2 was realising that the only way to make his life a little easier was to issue him with a bloody tent. No.3 was that the controversy was about seeing the tents on the streets, not the faceless people inside them that society had otherwise learned to walk by because that's how society does things, ie, it looks the other way. We've allowed ourselves to get used to it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-36082945 That was today. Here's something from 2013. IOW too: http://www.theguardian.com/society/...03/homeless-pensioner-offered-tent-by-council
Fun fact: Six years to the day since Gordon Brown accidentally called *that* woman a bigot to the world.
Plus he shares his first name with the right wing racist, sexist, xenophobic "comedian" Roy Chubby Brown...
Non taken mate,Just Roy. By the way loving this thread as well (as cup win 40 years) don't some people wind themselves up.
My uncle is friends with him. Smith's office is joined to a conservative club and he is in there a lot doing **** all. I have chatted to him a few times and he comes across a little creepy.
It seems I have got a new qualification........ I am now a xenophobic......if there is anything that has persuaded me to vote coming out of the E U its calling me a possible xenophobic !!! Why for goodness sake?
Not particularly.....but the fact I take all things into consideration before making my mind up. Also thinking yes I think we should leave. That according to the telegraph makes me xenophobic. That statement on its own is enough for me at least to vote to come out. I also frequently criticise Isreal so there is no hope for me!!
So the deciding factor in how you intend to vote is your response to being insulted by an article in the Telegraph? Really? And what's Israel got to do with the EU?
No of course not..........the people/race card consideration was/is never a consideration for me. However because of the way I was leaning, IE to leave the EU. By starting to call me, or brand me is enough for me to say sod you then. Nothing to do with Israel other than it seems I'm anti Semitic for criticising them. Another name to go by...........It seems I am now an anti Semitic xenophobic.
Fair enough. I read that Telegraoh article btw; the headline was quite provocative, but the article itself seemed to be arguing that xenophobia (fear of foreigners) was the "outers" best hope of oersuading voters, given the strength of the economic arguments lined up against them. Which I thought was fair comment.
