How long can we hold on to Watmore? Lovely game-changer. Skills and always looking for that original and unusual move. So talented. I want us to draw a line and say to anyone who comes in for him.... "No. You can't have him. We are building a team around him". Can we hold on? Will he stay? Just a thought. x
We hold all the cards. He's a sensible lad with his feet on the ground and he'll be well aware of the risks of joining the top clubs too early. It's more than not getting playing time, often it stunts development. I reckon we'll have have him around for a few years. Unless we get a ridiculous offer.
stroll on it's a bit early to be worrying about him leaving innit ! OK it's the nature of the beast and the press will soon be making up their horse sh*t rumours, but times in life when you're not worrying about Sunderland are very rare, can I just enjoy it a bit longer. By the way, the last player that left for bigger things (the ginger Pirlo) got subbed yesterday .
He was free. Not the next generation of England golden generation. It was a fluke him getting a cap. Watmore and co are the future.
The ginger Pirlo thought he was moving onto better things up the road and how, wrong did he get that one. In a different category Judas Bent thought he was moving onto a bigger club to further his England ambitions, how wrong did he get on that one. The only recent academy player to better himself is Jordon Henderson, he's. done OK at the bin dippers and played regular for England. I think with BSA guidance Dunc can have a big future with us, IF we can stay up which I believe we will, yes the big clubs will come calling but as someone on another thread likened Watmore to Bobby Kerr I think he can go on and be bigger than SKP in a red and white shirt, only tome will tell.
Bobby Kerr man. Welcome to 2015. Does anyone realistically think Watnore will be at SAFC in a yeara time. If he continues to progress like he has? . The thread is reality xheck.
I started this post because maybe this lad could be the one to say something like "hey. Sunderland gave me the chance and they deserve my loyalty". I know it's a thing that never happens now, but I still dream of a Charlie Hurley, a Bobby Kerr, a Raich Carter, who plays for the club against all odds because they love us. Someone, somewhere, will eventually do this. Hope this is the one. I know I'm being ridicullously rose spectacled and old fashioned, but surely it will happen again and soon. Does he want to warm the bench at Chelski or Man City? Why not be a God here? x
Couldn't agree more Bobby, hope Dunc bucks the trend and becomes a legend for us and not run off in the pursuit of Megga wonga. Being Sunderland fans were used too dreaming.
Forward planning would be to pay him the big bucks when they come -a - courting. They will. even in January I think. x
Depends how much money is offered. Money talks but fact is we can take the complete piss with our valuation and extort top whack should he become hot property. But we need to play it well from our coaching teams assessment. If he improves like this and we got a 15 million bid. he could well progress further and net us double the following year. Or he could stall and lose a lot of money. The contract gives us the luxury of managing a talent how the club see's fit. Having talent to be the 'feeder' club shows a positive change from the club who over spends on failed English talent. If we carry on on the right path we could be asking silly money for more players, but of course remains to be seen. I think it's refreshing we're talking about potential problems such as this. I don't see the reality check. Poor us, we have a salable asset. We should be buzzing imo. I am anyway. Represents a positive 100% to me.
Spot on. My poi nt is. He will leave eventually if he keeps goinf at this rate. Maybe for a daft sum. Not Henderson but Sterling etc. Re invest ala Ston.
I want to know.... How did we find him? Who found him? Is that person still with us? How did we get him to come to us? We need at least four more like him. x
Oh defo, fact of life, If a player out grows the club then sooner or later he'll leave. Down to the club to get the best price.
But this is my argument! Surely it doesn't have to be like that! To misquote Field of Dreams...... Build around him and they will come. Very few times is a talent like this found. Keep him, use his skills beyond on the field and nurture and develop to the next level. Fight to keep him and build a competetive team. x
No it doesn't but that would require the player not to out grow the club. That means the club would have to out develop the player. You can't begrudge a player a move he deserves. If anything this league has proved is that the magic formula to progress is not easily found. If Dunc carries on progressing odds are he'll be gone sooner or later.
