He died suddenly tonight aged just 40. He was an absolute legend in Rugby. I'm sure the people in New Zealand will be mourning his death for many years!
I'm someone who knows nothing about rugby and didn't watch a minute of the rugby World Cup. Yet I know this name - means he was obviously a huge name in the world of rugby. Tragic news - RIP
He was like a freight train. 19 stone of solid muscle and he could run 100m in 10.8 secs. Imagine that running at you
Hero when I was growing up playing rugby, always wanted to be Johnny Wilkinson but they used to put me on the wing/at fullback and told me to steamroll people. Really ****ing gutting this.
Unreal !! 40 year old and had some health problems but by all other c=accounts fit as a fiddlle. He i am taking my life for granted, eating 3 burgers and doing my best to get through another case of beer tonight! Sobering
I'm six foot three and nearly fifteen stone mate! I wouldn't like to be crashed into by me at pace. I developed before a lot of lads my age and was probably built like a back row player at the time. Bear in mind that wingers as kids tend to be the smallest on the pitch (along with the scrumhalf). Got me called up to international rugby at a schoolboy level (****ty country but still...) so I'd say decent!
Sounds more impressive than it is. I was a pretty crappy part of a very good club side in a country where there wasn't too much talent. As such a few of us got call ups. I was found wanting at that level as I thought I was too good to defend. On the weight... Not sure what to tell you matey, thank you... I think! I'm a bit of a ****ing lump.
Your height and weight ratio would suggest your in pretty good shape. I was built like a Jockeys whip throughout my teens, so Rugby was not a sport that I enjoyed playing at the time. I only really played footy as a kid.
