Bristol Rovers have today parted company with striker Ryan Brunt, his contract being cancelled by mutual consent.

Ryan’s release means that he is now a free agent and is able to look for another club.

His opportunities at the Memorial Stadium have been limited this season and he has been on loan with League Two clubs York City and Stevenage.

He joined Rovers in January 2013, on a two and a half year deal, and made his debut in a 3-1 win at Rotherham on 26th of that month.

He opened his Rovers account on his home debut, scoring a late winner against Barnet on 1st February 2013.

We would like to thank Ryan for his efforts during his time with us and wish him every success for the future.

I think it's a shame really, because when he joined us he was a very good striker who had real potential. But he has been severely hampered by injury and hasn't reached the level he did beforehand.

Could've been good but hopelessly crocked.

    Best of luck Ryan <ok>

That was quick getting a new club! I was right though about being a league 2 club.

    Statement on our OS....

Following the news that striker Ryan Brunt was leaving the club and was, in effect, a free agent we understand that he has agreed an 18 month contract with Plymouth Argyle.

The deal is subject to all the necessary paperwork being completed but he has already been allocated a squad number by The Pilgrims.

If the signing goes through, Ryan will become the third former Rovers player in the Argyle squad as Oliver Norburn and Dominic Blizzard will be among his new team mates.

We wish Ryan every success with Argyle and for the future.

Darrell Clarke says that it was impossible to justify retaining the services of striker Ryan Brunt who had six months left to run on his contract.
    Clarke said:
“The situation with Ryan was simply that we can’t afford to have players on decent salaries if they are not going to be involved. Ryan is a model professional and I don’t have a bad word to say about him. He just wasn’t going to be part of my plans week-in-and-week out and his was a wage that we can’t justify. We have four good strikers at the club and I am happy with the competition for places we have in that area of the squad at the moment.”
