He's nothing to do with the region, nothing to do with the club, not been contacted about the position. He likes to think of himself as the godfather of the game, but hasn't been relevant as a manager in four years. The press go to him for comment on anything because that twat won't let professional courtesy to others get in the way of getting himself in the papers. His comments are influencing Sam's positioning for the role. How unprofessional is it to give his opinion on a private conversation that he had with another manager when that manager might get a job out of the situation. Still, it's exactly the sort of ****e that a southern biased media will lap up and come back for more. Whoever we appoint they will go back to Arry to find out how ridiculous the situation is.
Annoying as it is I'msure Allardyce or any other manager will draw their own conclusions and not take too much notice of the spoutings of a bitter old man. A potential manager may even love allthis as when they take over everyone has already written us off prove them wrong and how good does the new guy look! Just as an aside,I heard an interview with Allardyce a good few weeks ago about going into a new job. He seemed keen to but described his approach and would be very careful of what was on offer,ensuring it was right for him and ensuring that everything was contractually sound so that owners could not change the remit/go back on their word. I expect Short to get a bit of a grilling if he is approached.
I used to like old 'arry. But the guy has no class. Not only that but its incredibly short sighted to talk like that. He has no idea where he could next be working, and who with. Its also just plain disrespectful to someone from whom he apparently accepted an invitation to play golf with at Skibo Castle last week. Absolutely lacking in class.
