Good move imo. 23 years old, showed how good he can be at Swansea. With Koeman and Fonte, I'm certain we can get him back to playing his best.
Central defenders is one area I am not prepared to challenge Ronald on. This reminds me of the Bertrand deal. Let's hope it works out just as well!
Good move to get him in on loan. I imagine our 3rd and 4th choice CB's will get a reasonable amount of time this year. So long as we are still looking to get in VVD or similar than I'll be happy.
Very happy with this. Was gutted we did not get him last year. Plus is nice to have another English player after we sold so many.
Agree with this - also think Stephens will get gametime this year, even as 5th choice, especially if we get to the group stages of the EL.
Pleased with this. Like DTLW, reminds me of the Bertrand deal. Was very impressed with him at Swansea. I think some people are going to be pleasantly surprised by him this season. I think he will become more than just back up, even if we still get VVD (which I still think we need).
He was very promising when coming through our youth system, showing a great attitude and making a series of very successful loans. Totally lost his way at QPR though, showing some appalling form and making some horrible mistakes. A loan sounds like a very sensible move, as you can see if you can turn his decline around before splashing out any real money on him. Hope he does well, as he really seemed to be going places for a while. Not sure what went wrong. Does mean that we'll have him back next summer if he does well, though!
I didn't disagree, though he actually hasn't at the moment. They need to play and win a qualifier. I said that he'd join the club that made him the best offer. Really not a surprise. Thought Arsenal would make more of a push for him, though.
Yeah, it might have just been down to QPR's overall poor performance under Redknapp. Can't have helped, anyway. I get the feeling that there were some off-field issues too, but I've not heard anything concrete. The upcoming Euros and the relegation with QPR might help to focus him and get him back on the right track. Should be plenty of games for him to try and force his way into contention for your starting XI, anyway.
