By all accounts he looked good versus Celtic.
Maybe we should put a bid in?... oh wait....

Newcastle United defender Davide Santon lined up for Inter Milan in their Europa League tie against Celtic.

The Italian sealed a loan switch on deadline day until the end of the season, throwing his long-term future at the club into doubt.

Newcastle are struggling for injuries, and seeing the full-back in action at Parkhead brought about strong discussion among fans.

Inter drew 3-3 in the last-32 first leg, with John Guidetti scoring an injury-time equaliser, but the Italians being able to net three away goals is clearly a big positive for them.

Santon played all 90 minutes, making 70 touches and completing 83 per cent of his passes. The 24-year-old made three tackles, won two interceptions and was booked for his troubles.

He was not the only player deemed not up to Newcastle requirements in action in the Europa League last night. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa was loaned to Roma earlier in the season, and sold permanently in the transfer window. He started for the Italian side as they drew 1-1 with Feyenoord.

Totally ridiculous that he and Yanga where LOANED out to CL/Europa league clubs and then sold for a loss as far as I'm aware in regards to Yanga! How Santon was behind Dummy and Haidara and Yanga behind Willo I will never know...

Shows that those in charge really haven't got a clue. Santon was our best left back by a mile.
    Dummett is dogshit.

Wages. They wanted to be paid similar wages to other professional footballers. We don't like that type of ambition.

We can barley put a back 4 on the pitch yet we have 2 defends on loan playing in Europe. Am I hallucinating?!?

Think Mbiwa has actually been sold already, but yes, 4 'fit' defenders and 5 (?) out on loan. Madness!

Player deals since Carver-Heed took over:

    In:
    Knee Fcker

    Out:

    Hatem Ben Arfa n/a Released
    Adam Campbell Gateshead Loan
    Callum Roberts Gateshead Loan
    Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa AS Roma £tbc
    Davide Santon Inter Milan Loan
    Gael Bigirimana Rangers Loan
    Shane Ferguson Rangers Loan
    Kevin Mbabu Rangers Loan
    Remi Streete Rangers Loan
    Haris Vuckic Rangers Loan

And that's in addition to those already out on loan from Pardew's reign.

That must be well over 100k per week wages? I would have though Ben Arfa, Mbiwa and Santon were all on nice wages. Well that's a chunk saved for the rest of the season at least...

Apparently we are now looking at his brother who is a good friend of JPF's. Hopefully we will have Butt Fcker signed by next week.

I feel a bit sorry for Ben Arfa. He was released from his lucrative contract with Newcastle and is now on the dole until August. Pity he cant play centre half - we could have back on a zero hours contract or

All players named with the exception of Santon, maybe, were either disruptive wannabes or simply not up to the task.

For some of them, namely Fattie Ben Arfa and Mapou, to have there occupation as Professional Footballer on a CV is stretching reality to the limits.

If they can't sign up to JCs glorious approach to attacking football, they should all just go,
I've seen how many have performed, so If it was left to me, I'd have got rid of more on top of this merry lot.
