Looks like the midfield will be Mvila, Ola, +1. I think Dick thinks there's a player in Rodwell (bloody well hidden, mind), and he's going to persevere with him a while. Bench time for Catts I think.
If I ever wanted to go for a drink in Newcastle on a Saturday night with my Sunderland scarf on.....M'Vila would be the lad I would take with me....lol
I've been trying to highlight this lads lack of basic ability for quite some time. He's plateaued and that's a shame because he appeared to be getting much better. He's a fans favourite because he's that heart and soul grafter that will get you the 0-0's at Arsenal and the odd point here and there when you need to dig deep, but he is redundant in this league now, he can't do it and will never have the vision which is absolutely necessary at this level. I think M'Vila will soften the blow of taking a fans favourite out of the starting line up if you drop him, if you don't, then you won't see the best of M'Vila because he'll be constantly looking over his shoulder to make sure Cattermole isn't being Cattermole. Right, back in my hole, two weeks for **** sake, when will Van Gaal learn?
Always appreciate your balanced perspective TJ. I've been a big Catts fan, but I think you're probably right. It'll be to both his advantage and ours that he moves on sooner rather than later for another challenge.
I asked a question about two years ago on here mate I think it was specifically to Marcus, it was along the lines of "Would you object to a manager slinging Cattermole, despite him being the fans favourite, if he didn't see him as part of the solution?". It's a tough one because he does give a lot on the pitch and he is loyal and he's English so you just find yourselves wanting him to succeed. He's not a bad player, I just think he is playing in the wrong era. I agree he could be sold tomorrow, it would explain the new contract, it'd be a clever move to fetch Fer in and ditch him, even if Fer can't play 40 games neither can Cattermole.
