Normally the captain in the middle or next to manager. Is Wilbraham still team captain or is G O'Neill, as he's sat one from the end?
My mate's boy is at Southampton's academy. He tells me the keepers, aged 10, have a bone in their arm measured to find out their expected height aged 21. Anything up to 6'3'' and they're released.
Might just be me here, but why is Mark Ashton in the photo ? Why not chuck in the Tea Lady too and the people who wash the kit ? I just don't get it. He's nothing to do with the playing side of the club. Or are we showing our Corporate side now ?
Well An interesting comment on Mark Ashton ( real name Sydney Postelthwaite ) being there .. ... .. you could say " he is a sort of director of football "?
In that case he might wear a tracksuit to blend in ? He sticks out like a sore thumb in a whistle and flute
If he wore a tracksuit that would be even more ridiculous. If he MUST appear in the shot it should be in a suit because he earns his living behind a desk. Personally, without wishing to take anything away from the storming job he is doing, I wish Ashton wasn't in the picture at all. It should be Johnson who sits in the middle wearing a suit because its HIS team
Quite agree. If they are to include Management, then bring in the rest of them into the photo shoot, but this just doesn't look right.
'It should be Johnson who sits in the middle wearing a suit because its HIS team'. One could well argue : It should be Lansdown who sits in the middle wearing a suit because its HIS team. Without SL's money do we really think we'd be anywhere other than L1. Junior's doing well but let's not get led away thinking it has nothing to do with finance or Ashton's contacts in the game.
Surely that goes for all clubs Redprintt? Manager does well, usually from the backing of the owner!! We are not unique!
Surely that goes for all clubs Redprintt?' Not at all, there have been more than a few who've spent money and failed.
Sorry Redprintt, but my point was also "that's what happens at most clubs".......Nothing unique. Success is not usually down to one person,
Of course its SL's money, and Ashton's contacts Nobody is in any doubt about that. The point here is it is traditional for the manager (or coach) to occupy that particular seat because he is the one who is shot down when it all goes tats-up. People would look at that photo and think Ashton was the manager. Johnson has final say on most things player/team-connected (including, I believe, who comes into the club and maybe also who leaves). This is as it should be really, don't you think ? Therefore Ashton is sitting in Johnson's place at the photograph, but maybe Johnson doesn't see it the way I do which is fair enough
